Becoming Superhumans

The golden age of extra time

By Monsoon PandeyPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

2020 changed the external world. As a constantly evolving and improving species, we not only needed to adapt quickly to maintain the order from our pre-covid days but to do so better with more efficiency than before. There still were 24 hours in a day, but our day to day lives rearranged so that we were all gifted with the greatest gift in the world: extra time. Most of us felt the spiritual responsibility to make the most out of this time -- to change our lives around, to get ahead, do things we always wanted to, to get better, or perhaps even simply enjoy the present. It has been a life-changing year for some, for others not so much, but we can all agree that it has been more peculiar than any of the years anyone has experienced in our time here on Earth thus far.

There are a plethora of lessons to be learned from 2020, and the biggest one is the analogical idea behind the power of compound interest. May that be in terms of small businesses, stocks, or simply good habits that yield great results over time. Every year we start with our new year resolution, but they are more cliche than a useful tactic at this point due to its cosmic redundancy. Covid is the same except much, more powerful. Coming March, we will mark a year since covid, and most people will feel pressure to show what they did with their extra time. Of course, it's not particularly extra time. It's the same time we have every year, but with the outdoors being shut, and everyone left to our modern-day powerful technologies at disposable, we all had time to do something. The best way to maximize our time was to do a lot of things, consistently, as a routine and watch the results compound as growth. The pandemic gave everyone a chance to become a superhuman with multiple hobbies, skills, and incomes. But to become a multifaceted superhuman of an individual, you need to recognize the power of loops. Our lives are cosmic loops of day and night and doing everything we want to do requires a little bit of everything consistently. Below are few things you must do consistently regardless of your overall goals in your journey to become a superhuman.

Personalized sleep pattern: It starts and ends with sleep. Find a sleep pattern that works best for you. Unless due to scheduling or time-shift obligations, you do not have to follow a sleep schedule your body doesn’t confine into. Nikolas Tesla used to sleep in 4 hours intervals twice a day. Test that out, do experiments, optimize sleep.

Meditation: The first thing I try to do as soon as I wake up is mediate. Something about starting the day zen makes the day go zen. During the pandemic, I unlocked a level of meditation which I am calling impactful meditation. With enough focus, I am finally able to quiet my mind to allow my intuition to be heard. Of course, it still doesn’t happen every time. But a meditation session is impactful only if I can listen to the subconscious guidance of my intuition. Otherwise, it's just practice.

Exercise: We have a certain amount of energy in us and that energy will be used no matter what. We all know the known benefits of exercising, but exercising is the only natural remedy to stop overthinking. If you find yourself stressing or overthinking, simply moving your energy and focus from mental to physical will do the trick. More often than not, you will find the answers to your problems when you are not thinking, not the other way around.

Gossip: As a workaholic myself, I can not put enough emphasis on the importance of socializing outside of work. As we get closer and closer to solving the work and play balance problem, it is very easy to get consumed by our work (or play) and lose ourselves in the flow more than it is healthy. Gossiping, as I have found out, is very important to maintain a good social life and to keep your power as citizens. Gossip often and gossip consciously, usefully, politically, impact-fully and just-fully.
