Anyone Can Become An Author

"Ideas don't come out fully formed, they only become clearer as you work on them. You just have to get started." -Mark Zuckerberg

You might say that title up there is obvious, right? You are probably thinking, of course anyone can become an author, that's not uncommon knowledge. But what most people don't know, about becoming an author, is how easy it is to find their story. They give up because, "what am I suppose to write about," is the last question they ask themselves, and that question never finds its answer. There are millions of amazing stories waiting to be told and probably millions that will go untold, because someone does not know how to start. So I am writing a little how to guide, based on this uncommon knowledge, to help you tell your story in hopes that maybe one day I will get to read it.

As I am sitting here, there is a red bird nestled on the tree branch outside. He is beautiful! He is a male you see, as females do not have such vibrant colors. He is defiantly dressed to impress! I bet he gets all the lady's attention. He must have come from a beautiful family to be so handsome. I would like to believe he is from Virginia originally. When Virginia started to get cold, he made his way here, to south Alabama; however, I bet it was not an easy flight. Maybe he was really young and could not keep up with his family during the flight here. Oh, maybe he got caught just at the beginning of winter and had to fly blindly through the snow blizzard. Or maybe he is the flight champ, and he beat every other bird around. If that's the case, I bet he gets to pick any female he wants!

See there, what I've done? I've just rambled a bunch of stuff till I gave myself a story to follow; now, I can creatively fill in the gaps. I can give him some hardships through a rough winter blizzard. After a treacherous journey he sees tiny beams of sunlight coming through the thick winter clouds, he starts to fly faster and harder knowing the warmer weather lie just ahead. His wings heavy with snow and water, he does not know if he will make it before his wings completely give out.

You can make a story from anything; all you need to do is to take a look around. This may not lead to your New York Times best seller right away, but it is a good place to start. Eventually, you will find your story. So pick up a journal and pen, and write about how that little flower growing through the pavement cracks endured so much to get there. You can even relate it to something you had to endure to become that beautiful flower in the end. Write a story about how that ugly little caterpillar turned into a beautiful butterfly. My, those guys go through amazing transformations.

I do not consider myself a good writer currently. I still have a lot to learn but I will get there. Maybe even win one of these challenges some day, and my hope is that you will too. Perhaps we will even, one day, have books sitting side by side in the barns and noble bookstores' across the country. Until then, write about everything you see, I do. I carry my journal with me, and I make up stories everywhere I go. Even the old building that is abandoned and tired; imagine the things those walls have seen!

You are more than welcome to continue with my little red bird story, as a creative push start. But after that go out and find your own little red bird to create a story about. Also, have fun with it don't stress yourself. As the quote goes, "no matter how slow you go, you're still lapping everyone on the couch." -Unknown
