Another New Year...

New Year, New Us

By Roy C. TheoPublished 13 days ago 3 min read

It's the end of another year and just like the end every other year I hear people saying "New Year, New Me!" yet they don't do change. Maybe they'll try for a couple of weeks, but that rarely ever last. It always makes me think why do people bother...I've been so sick and tired of hearing that for so long. Or at least that's what I've always thought and felt. I never bothered, I've always just gone through life as it happens. Yes, I make plans and work on them, but at the end of the day, myself and my life are still the same...just like them. There's still about a week or so left in the year and with all of the times I've already started hearing people say it and post about how this coming year they WILL change...I haven't been as bothered by the statement.

That has made me wonder why, which led me to thinking about this year and how so much has happened. From there, I remembered all of the crap that has happened...which for the first time in my entire life I have that urge...to TRULY make a change in my life. Though, I had to think and come to the realization...for a "New Me" I and everyone else needs to put in a ton of effort and consistently catch themselves from making the same habits and mistakes. Try as hard as one can, if you don't notice yourself slipping backs into those habits, ones life won't change. I may be reiterating myself, but with how I currently feel, with everything that I have been through this year and even the last few years, that I AM DONE. I NEED change and I'm certain I'm not the only one who has reached this point with how everything has been going in the world.

I came to this realization...feeling, while brushing my teeth after seeing a friends post on social media. That's when I looked into the mirror and saw one of my scars and those two things combined got me thinking. Scars are supposed to be lessons, right? I have plenty of scars...even if most can't be seen physically. Instead of making a post saying "New Year, New Me" I'm making a true effort to change my life starting TODAY. Instead of starting by working out or eating healthier or looking for a new job...I'm starting by looking back, looking at the scars that aren't visible, looking at oldest and deepest scars...remembering what happened the results of those instances finally and learning from them. Using those mental scars, those set-backs, the unresolved trauma...as the lessons I should've learned from AGES ago. Without fixing those, how could I or anyone expect to see true results of becoming a new and better person? So now armed with that realization this coming year, with TRUE effort, there WILL be a "New Me" one that has worked through all of the struggles I have been through...and from there I will continue working on the other aspects of my life. Putting in all of my effort and making sure I KEEP UP with it, catching my mannerisms, stop spreading the scars that was left within me...for this New Year, there WILL BE a New Me!

I'm starting by writing this, to spread this same realization with others, as to change and become a "New You" one needs to start from the beginning and change yourself fundamentally, to heal from old wounds and those hidden scars and do so CONSISTENTLY. Now, everyone who took the time to read this...please, not for me, not for those around you, but for YOURSELF...don't wait for a New Year and start your change, start your healing process. I believe in each and every one of you...YOU GOT THIS!

Thank you for taking the time and reading my message and realization. I wish you all Happy, Healthy New Year! Go strive for the greatness we are all capable of achieving, and most importantly...become that "New YOU!"
