Have you ever wondered why someone is in a positive mood all of the time. I sure have. I'll just be walking down the street in my neighborhood and pass somone that seems to be bubbling over with joy, and I will ask myself, why are they so excited all of the time? I have never actually stopped and asked any of them because they are strangers and I'm sure that everyone has learned from their parents to never talk to strangers (lol). Anyways, as I am going about the rest of my day, I start running different ideas through my head; are they drunk, are they just enjoying life in that moment, etc. Then something hits me, they probably are using affirmations throughout their day to help them change their mindset and see every day as a positive instead of a negative.
According to Google, the word affirmation can be loosely defined as a form of emotional support. After much more research and studying on affirmations, I took some time and tried applying them to my own life.
Every morning, when I wake up, I tell myself, "Self you are going to win your day and make an impact in someone's life today." Another affirmation that I like to use is, "You can do this, the sky is not the limit, there are footprints on the moon." As weeks pass and I kept up with these affirmations each day, I started to see my life changing right before my very eyes. I was and still am working towards my dreams of financial security and freedom.
Now through this ongoing and never-ending journey, I discovered that affirmations and your mindset go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other. If you constantly tell yourself," I won't make the team this year, I am terrible at football, I absolutely will not ace my math exam," then you will never do any of those things. You have got to take the time out of your day to help and support yourself. All you need is 30 seconds in front of a mirror and a few choice positive words each day and you will start to see the results in your life that you want all because you decided to take a step towards improving yourself.
As mentioned previously mindset and affirmations go hand in hand. If you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning and tell yourself that today is going to be a crappy day then that dictates how your mindset for the rest of the day is going to be. On the flip side, if you tell yourself every single day that you are going to rock your world and never give up on your goals and dreams, then each and every day will become a win for you, even if it is the smallest step in the right direction. As the old saying goes, "The journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step."
I have been able to change my mindset not just in my everyday life, but also in my career. I am improving myself each and every day and working towards the dreams that I set for myself. Without affirmations, my life would be going in a totally different direction. Take some time out of your day and make sure to tell yourself how good you are and remember that you are unique only to you.
