It can't be denied: Jobs for teenagers are few and far between. But, there are some jobs that don't so much suck as they can actually be useful! Check out this list of 10 best jobs for teenagers that may not sound like your average office job (ahem), but will pay the bills and give you a little independence.

1. Commercial Lines Worker

Commercial Lines worker is a job that you would do if you were a hard worker. These are the workers who work in telephone, power, and microwave power lines. They are also known as insulators. The pay is good on these kinds of jobs because they don't need to take regular vacations or holidays because they're constantly in danger. Practically any teenager can do this kind of job.

2. Lifeguarding

When most people hear the word lifeguard, their minds immediately go to beach resorts and swimming pools, but lifeguards are also responsible for protecting water sports enthusiasts who have small children at large waterparks. So, this job actually gives teenagers a chance to be completely active. It is also a fun job to have because it's low-pressure and you get a lot of downtime.

3. Plumber

Plumbers are responsible for fixing all sorts of stuff that can break down. They might be called into fix the toilet, but they can also work on the main water lines to fix leaky faucets or water pressure problems. They must be responsible about doing their job since it's not just about doing anything as long as the customer is satisfied!

4. Janitor

Janitors are responsible for cleaning everything from toilets to offices. The pay isn't that great because a lot of teenagers don't enjoy the job, but it's not bad either. It can be challenging, too, since janitors are constantly going up against dirt and germs. If a teenager does get into this kind of work, it would only be temporary until they could find a better paid job in another field.

5. Friendly Letter Carrier

Knowing how important it is to keep your land-line bills at an affordable price, UPS has recruited the best talent on earth. This includes friendly letter carriers who pack and pick up parcels so that they can be delivered on time with no issues whatsoever. They are employed by UPS and they perform their tasks successfully every day.

6. Subway Station Attendant

Subway station attendants have what is synonymous to most people as a bad job. However, there is a lot of money to be made by working with the MTA. They basically work as janitors and keep the stations clean, maintain security and customer service, pay bills, sell tickets, and so on. The pay can be decent but what's even more important is that it's steady except for the occasional salary cutdowns or other temporary layoffs that come with this kind of job (which keep happening).

7. Bank Teller

Bank tellers have a great job that can actually net a decent paycheck. They are responsible for checking and handling cash deposits, adjusting forms, and verifying balances. They also help customers with information regarding banking deals and policies, retirement accounts, debt consolidation loans, and even student loan refinancing.

8. Poker Dealer (Blackjack)

Poker dealers deal cards for the most popular card games like blackjack, baccarat, and French poker. They are responsible for buying chips to use on the tables and helping customers rank their cards in order to begin playing.

9. Ophthalmic Technician

Ophthalmologists and optometrists can make good money if they go into this kind of work. Their jobs are responsible for diagnosing eye problems and prescribing the correct treatment. Essentially, it just means that they could earn a decent paycheck while working in the medical field. It is a good idea to only work with companies that have a minimum amount of disciplinary actions because this kind of job can turn into an investigation of your personal life in no time at all.

10. Home Health Aide

Home health aides are people who help patients with their daily activities like bathing, dressing, taking medications, and even helping them eat properly. They also help those who have very low mobility to be able to move around safely and maintain their dignity. This can be a very rewarding job for the right teenager who is comfortable with people in these situations.

No matter how much you dislike the idea of working in any of these jobs, remember that they can become your stepping stones to great success and ambition. Just because you're not paid to have fun, it doesn't mean that you can't learn a lot from the job. I hope this list has been helpful for those who are looking for jobs for teens.
