Destination Weddings

Seven children, 3 engaged,

parents enraged,

destination wedding, beautiful gown,

truck broke down,

big, big frown!

Fun activities, without a beer or a fifth,

altitude sickness, complete with

ER visit, oxygen, and it is no myth

an entire wedding party was there before us.

They may have needed a bus.

Contribute to the wedding cost

haul the truck back to Minnesota is money lost.

Take the oxygen tank home and ship it back.

Big cost, money lost, what a sack!

Still sick, it can go on and on they say.

One boy wants to have a wedding cruise, no way,

we say, "We won't be going!" We get home and our ride says,

"We want to get married in the mountains! It will be a ways

from now though. You will fly next time too, ahem."

We are very close to disowning both of them.

I can tell they know we are very serious about not going

when our youngest boy says, "Well, we also thought of marrying

in a hot air balloon and then having an excellent reception!"

As long as it isn't too far away we could make an exception!

We are retired, with limited income, and besides the wedding,

we overspent our budget by thousands. Hubby says we will be eating

like the people on the show Naked and Afraid. He gave those beautiful

mountains the finger as we were driving down a wonderful

tree-lined roadway with the mountains in front.

I thought we could find something to appreciate. To be blunt

when I said that, all he did was grunt!!

The wedding was beautiful as was the reception! They had a nice turnout, so many things were perfect! There was a nine-year sobriety celebration. The group went horseback riding and hiking. Then there was a spa day. The happy couple are in Mexico for their honeymoon.

I told our daughter that she is beautiful with or without food in her mouth! The couple held up well. Lots of family and friends for support! The service industry in Breckenridge is great. Everyone was so helpful and will go out of their way for you. So thankful!!

We will probably not be going on any more destination weddings. Of our children, we have four couples happily married, two engaged, and one divorced. Then we have 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, just two couples married and two divorced.

We have a big family and many more weddings to come. Hubby is going to start offering up our yard, field, and campsite to any takers. How do people manage all of this? I hear destination weddings are the thing now. We will try to get out of any other destination weddings. We shall see.

This was a fun wedding, it was too bad we had so many difficulties. This room became the dance floor after the dinner, photos, celebration toasts, and speeches. Our granddaughter had me in tears as she talked about her mother, the bride!

How can we miss our other children's weddings? We probably can't. But not too many days ago, it was a definite no way!

I had my husband talked into going for a month this next winter, to break up the months until Spring. Not anymore! He informed me that it would take a lot to get him to leave home again.

The only thing that had him laughing was when I was angry as he said, "You are always so laid back and now you have some idea what I have been feeling!" I said that is not funny! Then I thought at least he is not carrying on about everything and giving the mountains the finger!

Destination weddings are not our favorite thing!! One drawback to having a large family!
