Why do Some People Seem to Never Age?

Aging is natural, but it’s not mandatory

Why do Some People Seem to Never Age?

When I think of old age, the first image that comes to mind is my grandmother.

I don’t really know how old she was when I first began to remember her—but to me, she already seemed old.

She always wore a scarf on her head, never used makeup, didn’t even have a cream for her face or hands. She walked with a limp and had that curved back we associate with elderly women. She looked exactly how a grandmother was expected to look: distant from the world of youth and beauty.

And yet, doing the math now, she wasn’t actually old at all. She might have been around fifty—or even younger. Like many women of her generation, she had children early, around twenty. But she looked far older than that.

My mother followed the same path. Her youthful beauty faded too soon. Not because it didn’t matter, but because she didn’t think she mattered. Aside from keeping her hair and nails in order—the bare minimum for most women of that era—she never really took care of herself. For them, aging was inevitable. Something you accepted and endured.

And yet, even back then, there were exceptions. Some women managed to stay young much longer. Who were they? Celebrities, of course. Actresses, public figures. But not only them. There were also ordinary women who had made a different choice:

  • Not to give in to aging,
  • Not to fight it with anger,
  • But to care for themselves.

With love. With patience. With perseverance.

Today, this choice is available to everyone.

We live in an age of access—to knowledge, to tools, to natural remedies and scientific discoveries. We can consciously choose not to let our inner youth be buried under the weight of time.

And it’s from this reflection—and years of study and personal practice—that my book was born: “Age is Just a Number”.

It’s a journey for those who no longer want to leave their appearance to chance or genetics, but who want to reclaim their vitality in a natural, deep, and sustainable way.

It’s not about chasing perfection, nor about chasing the illusion of eternal youth. It’s about choosing, every day, how to live inside your body— and doing so with respect and love.

Today, science confirms something we’ve always suspected deep down: not everyone ages the same way. Two people with the same chronological age can have completely different biological ages. This means that the body—our cells, tissues, and organs—can “age” faster or slower depending on how we live, what we feel, and what we think every single day.

It’s not magic. It’s biochemistry. And more importantly: it’s personal responsibility.

Every choice we make—what we eat, how we sleep, how much we move, but also what we think and how we speak to ourselves—leaves a trace inside us. Some call it epigenetics, others awareness, others simply common sense. But whatever name you give it, the message remains the same: age is not written only in our genes, it is written in our daily actions.

And that’s good news. Because it gives us back control.

In a world that moves fast and often expects us to accept the signs of aging as inevitable, it's empowering to realize there’s another path. A path made of awareness, small daily choices, and actions that can transform the way we relate to our bodies, to time, and to ourselves.

If this topic resonated with you, know that this is just the beginning of a much deeper journey— a journey toward a kind of youth that doesn’t depend on age, but on the quality with which we choose to live each day.

My book "Age is Just a Number" is now available in digital format on Amazon, currently in Italian. The paperback version (in Italian) will be released on May 30, 2025.

Because in the end, age truly is just a number. And it’s up to us to decide how much life we put into it.
