Weight Loss Journey

My Personal Journey to Losing Weight

By Bass Man EddiePublished 5 months ago 3 min read

When there’s a time to motivate yourself, it will happen at a time notice. Maybe it will happen today, or maybe next week. It’s possible to think you will start losing weight now, but it’s difficult to maintain a workout & diet plan. Some are impatient to keep up with the plan if they don’t see any progress. Others find it difficult and often painful to go through. To recount my personal journey, here’s what inspired me to start it off.

Let’s go back to January of 2024. I started a workout plan with a workout app. There was a 7x4 plan, which is for 4 weeks & 7 days straight (28 days), there was a workout each day targeting different muscle groups. I made a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight starting the first day of the year. I was on the 14th day of the plan when I started to have an infection close to my lower back. I was in extreme pain because the infection has caused swelling, and this led me to head for the ER. When they saw and checked up on me, it was a serious infection. They had to cut open where the swelling was to drain out extra fluids and blood. From there, I had to rest up and give up on the workout plan. This has led up to not being active and eating junk & processed food. And that wasn’t the worst of it.

Just went to a medical clinic for a physical exam in April. When they measured my weight, I was 216.7 lbs. This was surprising since I didn’t have a weight machine. Then they checked my blood pressure. Lucky, they mentioned that it was healthy. From there, they also did drew blood out. And when they checked the blood, they confirmed that there was high cholesterol. So basically, the results wiped me into changing my diet and day routine.

In May of 2024, I started small. I started eating less processed foods. This made me start to eat natural fruits and vegetables to satisfy my hunger. It also led me to start counting my calories. The less calories I intake, the more activities and workouts I should do to burn off some weight. I would jog from work to a local park. Doesn’t sound too bad. Just needed to change from my work clothes to my workout clothes and off I went. It also helped that l summer was approaching and the high heat made me sweat off any extra weight. From eating processed food and being lazy after work, to jogging and going to the park to exercise, it was the first step of my weight journey.

The second step of my weight loss journey was to do more advanced workouts. Standard body weight exercises keeps you in shape, but I aim to lose fat and gain muscle. So, I decided to go to the gym instead of the park in June. It was a longer location to jog after work, but it made it up with new opportunities to lose weight. This is where I brought back the workout app to restart the 7x4 workout plan. Next, I would use different workout machines to target different muscle groups. And when I’m done with the machines, I simply move on to lifting weights. This in turn, helped me tune my muscles and helped me lose weight. And when all that is said and done, I finished my workout with a half an hour session on the treadmill. This workout plan I have developed goes helped from 3 to 4 hours in the gym.

As of now, it’s now July of 2024. After finishing the 7x4 plan, changing my diet, counting my calories, and going to the gym for the workout machines, weight lifting & the treadmills, I’m happy to announce that I went from 216 lbs to 183 lbs. I never felt any better, and I will continue to improve my health and be active. All in all, I hope to share this weight loss journey to inspire others to do the same and feel better when they join their own weight loss journey.
