Trying out a new daily tarot spread - March 6, 2023
Focus, Embrace, Release
Over the past week or so, I've started to look at other spreads and see if any of them might suit a daily reading better than the one I'm currently using. I like the three-card spread I've been doing, but I'm finding that I'd like to branch out a little. This week I've decided to give a different spread a try. I should also say that this spread is not my creation. I'm not sure who created it, but I really liked it when I saw it. So here it goes.
Our first card in today's reading is what to focus on today. We have the King of Wands.
This card shows a king seated on his trainee, holding a wand in the high hand. The wand has leaves coming off it, so it's very much still alive or at least still producing. On his throne, you can see images of lions, a symbol of courage and strength. And the salamander, a lizard that symbolizes fire, and the suit of wands. The salamanders on his throne are biting their tails, signifying completion and starting anew. And the salamanders are all over the king's cape as well. He is a good king. Just and fair. His throne sits on a stone slab, making his foundation stable and secure.
This King shows us that things are exactly as they appear. You can see both of the king's hands in this image. That's a clear sign that he's hiding nothing from us. That there is no deceit. No trickery is happening. Things are solid and stable. There is a sense that this king is about to stand up, ready to move. He is about to do something. And so this is the energy to focus on for today. He is getting ready for something and preparing to get up and do what needs to be done with complete transparency and honesty. There's no need to hide your intentions when you go for it.
Our next card in our new spread today is a card that shows us what to embrace. That card is the Two of Wands.
Having more of a particular suit in our spread is a clear sign that the energy of the wands is amplified in our reading today. The wands are all about creativity and action. They represent the element of fire. And the creativity that burns in us to create and make things in the world. Twos are about unions and things coming together. In the Two of Wands, we see a man standing on a balcony. He holds a wand in his left hand and a globe in his right. This man is planning something. He's working on an idea. The way he's holding the wand with his left-hand leads me to think that he's receiving creative energy from the wand and releasing that same energy as ideas into the globe, or the world in this case.
And so what we should embrace today is ideas. And plans. We should embrace all the ideas that come our way today. Good, bad, indifferent. We should not cast away any ideas today.
Our last card in today's spread gives an idea of what energies we should release today. That card is the 8 of pentacles.
This card shows a man working on a pentacle. So now we know who makes them! He looks like he's working hard and love what he does. He's sitting on a bench, taking a chisel and hammer to a pentacle. Or maybe he engraves the discs with the symbol. Whatever his role in the process, he seems to enjoy it and is good at what he does. Pentacles are a symbol of earthly things. They can represent possessions, our homes, land, money, and work. Anything that is of an earthly concern. And piths represent hope and abundance. This card shows us that we should let go of the negativity in our workplace today. This doesn't mean that if you have a terrible job, you should try to like it. Instead, try to look at your work differently. Try to see the positive in what you do, just you. Don't worry about anyone else and the work they do. Stay in your lane, do your work, and enjoy the part you play in the grand scheme, like this guy who carves out the pentacle on these discs. He is by himself; no one else is around to give him trouble. Often we invite trouble by putting ourselves into other people's lives when we shouldn't. And that's what we should let go of for today. Let go of the negativity at work, and find something about the work you do to enjoy. And let that carry you for today. If you already love your job well, then keep at it.
