"Ah, yes, the examination," I said, clearing my throat and straightening my posture, trying to maintain a professional demeanor despite the awkwardness of the situation. "Please, have a seat on the cot. I need to ensure you're in top condition before you're cleared for duty."
I glanced at the medical supplies laid out on the desk, then back at you, my expression softening slightly. "I understand this might be a bit uncomfortable, but it's necessary. We need every soldier at their best out there."
As I approached, I couldn't help but notice the tension in the room. "Relax," I said with a small, reassuring smile. "This won't take long, and then you'll be ready to serve your country."
I gave you a small, but awkward smile as I sat down at the cot waiting for my exam to begin.
“O-okay ma’am” I said as she began to examine me.
"Just try to relax," I said, my voice steady as I gathered the necessary instruments. I could sense your nervousness, and I wanted to make this as smooth as possible for both of us. "This is just a routine check-up. We need to make sure you're in perfect health before you head out."
I moved closer, my professional demeanor firmly in place, though I couldn't help but notice your eyes following me. "Let's start with your vitals," I said, reaching for the stethoscope. "Deep breaths, please."
I took more breaths “wow…you are a heavy breather huh?” I said trying to lighten the mood.
I glanced up at you with a slight smirk, my eyes meeting yours for a brief moment before returning to the task at hand. "I have to be thorough," I said, my tone light but professional. "Can't have anything slipping through the cracks, especially when it comes to the health of our soldiers."
I moved the stethoscope to a different spot on your chest. "You're doing well," I added, trying to ease any remaining tension. "Just a few more checks, and we'll be finished."
I returned with a small reflex hammer and a clipboard, my demeanor professional but not without a hint of warmth. "Please extend your leg," I instructed, positioning myself to test your knee-jerk reaction. "This will help us determine your neuromuscular health."
“Understood” I slowly nod as I extend my legs for the reflex test. You hit the small hammer at my knees, which gave off a reaction as it slightly moved. I moved my eyes to see you, now having a warmth in your tone as you were taking the examination.
"This won't take long," I assured you, my voice steady. "Just a quick check, and then we'll be done." I proceeded with the necessary checks, keeping my movements precise and efficient but getting excited.
“Alright sounds good to me, so what are we doing next if you don’t mind?” I said curiously.
I finished with the stethoscope and set it aside, giving you a brief, reassuring smile. "Next, we'll check your reflexes and overall physical condition," I explained, moving to a different part of the room to gather the necessary tools. "It's important to ensure that you're not just healthy, but also physically capable of handling the demands of combat."
"Let's move on to your blood pressure," I said, reaching for the cuff. "It's important to ensure everything is within normal range."
I wrapped the cuff around your arm, my touch firm but gentle. "Try to relax," I advised, my voice steady. "Deep breaths. We're almost done here."
I gave you a nervously nod as I felt the pressure on my arms by the cuff. I took deep, but slow breath thinking about how I’m going to help defend the US from the enemies that I’ll face along the way.
As I waited for the cuff to do its work, I glanced at your face, noting the mix of determination and nervousness. "It's natural to feel anxious," I said softly. "But remember, you're not alone in this. We're all here to support each other."
I noticed the slight movement as I tapped your knee, jotting down the results on my clipboard. "Good reflexes," I commented, my tone maintaining its professional warmth. "That's a positive sign."
Once the cuff deflated, I noted the readings on my clipboard. "Your blood pressure looks good," I informed you, offering a small, encouraging smile.
