A chronic disease is a long-term condition that tends to limit life functions, with conditions that last for over a year. Some of these diseases go by the name of cancer, arthritis, and diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic disease that attacks the immune and digestive system. There are two types of diabetes, one of which you make too much glucose and another where you don’t make enough. Both of which affect how efficient your body heals after being injured.

Diabetes can be described as a health defect of which the body does not properly use its sugar. The physiology of the body is expecting the body to break down the food as it enters the body, it is then supposed to separate good and bad food and from the good food it is converted into sugar. The pancreas now holds the job of assuring that all the sugar is allowed into the cell so that the body will now have or produce energy. All in all, the extended period of overproduction of sugar with no reception to its cell body is the result of diabetes.

Diabetes does show itself in various signs. According to the Centers of disease, some people may experience dehydration, and an unusual necessity to urinate. While others may experience blurry vision, numbing throughout the body, and body problems. The article explained that type 1 diabetes can normally start as a child and manifest through stomach complications. While type 2 diabetes typically develops in adulthood, because it come about over time. Gestational diabetes is a temporary condition where you experience diabetes while pregnant.

There is no cure for diabetes, but one can treat it with insulin shots and pills. Most importantly, exercising and maintaining a balanced diet plays a major role in managing the medical condition. Be mindful of the changes in your body as they could be communicating underlining conditions. Things like changes in your appetite or sleep schedule can be signs your body isn’t energetic balanced, it may not be converting your food nutrients properly.

Ever heard of a woman being pregnant and finding out she is a new diabetic. Diabetes is a medical condition where one’s body does not consume or break down the sugar it produces from food digestion. I found an article from the American Pregnancy Association that educates an individual on the topic of gestational diabetes, and what one can do when they find out about it.

Gestational diabetes is described as discovering diabetes for the first time while with child. Officials found it to be beneficial to require sugar test at least once throughout the pregnancy to protect the mother and baby from danger. People of heavier weight capacity tend to take their test a bit earlier in their pregnancy. Much like Type 1 and 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes shows up in the form of dehydration, more urinating, and funny eating patterns. Testing for gestational diabetes takes place during around the 28th week of pregnancy and is administered orally.

Being that it’s a requirement to get a glucose test during your pregnancy, that keeps the numbers low for women who experience this. It is said only about 2-5% of women experience this condition while close to 10% of them are at high risk for it. The test consists of the mother having to drink a juice about a hour before their blood test is administered. They complete this test to ensure the placenta isn’t producing any hormones that are preventing the insulin. Without this test, mothers are at risk to other health factors like gaining too much weight.

This condition cannot be healed, as it is normally a temporary experience for mothers. The article also suggested that mothers maintain good eating habits as well as incorporating some physical activity to generate a sweat. Those two combined prevent you from reaching diabetes and it allows you to be in control of your glucose levels. I found it to be very interesting that the article also suggested getting pregnant at a healthy weight so you may maintain that weight. Lastly, be mindful diabetes is genetic. This is a prime example of how diabetes is getting passed down.
