This way of breathing was originally developed to help samurai increase energy, stamina, and power as a way to survive epic battles. Indeed, this method actually brings more energy.

I have practiced many martial arts and have many black belts, kendo, the way of the sword, remains one of the more rigorous and tiring, so it exhausts you; however, if you master the breathing, you find you have more energy at the end of practice.

I have practied this breathing style over the years. Be patient and do this daily! It even helped to relieve my arthritis pains and finally helped me survive my cancer treatments, twice.

• Here goes. You do not have to be a martial artist. This is not a cure for anything. These ideas come from Buddhist meditation.

✅The secret in martial arts is how you breathe, not the power in your techniques, for I have studied this for over 50 years.

✅Every master I have every trained with says the same thing to breathe deeply; however, most never teach it because most students don't understand, so if you ask, they often smile and start to teach you secretly.

In Japan, you have to ask. . . .if you want to learn karate, you have to ask first. . . of course, they will say no. . . you have to ask again and again. . . finally, they see you are serious. . . This is the Japanese way. . ..

🔥LEVEL ONE: The BASIC Way ✅

All samurai, karate, and MMA students learn this from day one about the fundamentals of breathing when fighting.

• When you jam or block, you breathe in through your nose.

 • When you cut, strike, kick or throw, you breathe out through your mouth.

🔥SAMURAI BASICS ✅ Seme

• So for the samurai WARRIOR: one cut, one kill. Make each strike work! Practice more and more to perfect this.

For the Japanese warrior, "seme" means pressure or jamming, for every technique begins with "seme."

I once went to an American kendo dojo or school where they did not teach this, so I never returned because this was not authentic.

🔥FIGHT BASICS ✅

• In a street fight, first, jam or block as you step in, while breathing in.

 • Then secondly, you explode with a major blow while breathing out, one man falls down in pain.

🔥NEXT FIGHT ✅.

• Then you move on to the next opponent if he has a friend or two.

🔥INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: A More Advanced Way.

• Firstly, you again breathe in while jamming or blocking and moving forward.

 • Secondly, you breathe out while exploding with another deadly technique or cut, hurting or killing one man.

Without, hesitation, you are continuing the same breath out, hurting another or killing yet a second man. Thus, one long breath.

Thus, one breath in, one breath out, two kills, and so on. Why only one continuous breath for 2 people?

Look around you. What if you are surrounded by a gang and are alone. No one is there to help you. I grew up in Los Angeles. Gangs left me alone because I smiled and showed no fear when they jumped me.

Or you need to do multiple counter moves in a fight, no time to rest. Push them. It will overwhelm the fighters in front of you. Smile.

🔥SAMURAI ADVANCED LEVEL: Most Advanced Way

• An advanced samurai does one breath in, and one breath out, with ten strikes or kills with 10 dead men on the floor.

 • Kills 100 men with 10 cycles of one breath in, with one continuous breath out, and 10 more dead. See!

✅OVERVIEW

 • Not sure if that made sense. But with each cycle of kills, the samurai gains more energy and is not tired. A battle can last hours, not minutes.

Again we can just do mindful walking and pretend we are fighting. Remember this came from Buddhist temples.

✅MOST IMPORTANT RULE: NEVER HOLD YOUR BREATH!

• Most beginners do this. In kendo, you must scream, or shout or Kiai (気合) out with each cut, so the judges can hear your continuous breathing.

• In battle, for ten cuts, it is one continuous long Kiai moving forward. If you hold your breath during a cut, you do not get a point in kendo, even if you cut or hit your opponent because you are not a samurai. You are an amateur or a failure.

Screaming or shouting is the attitude.

✅Samurai Mindful Warrior Walk: Same Idea!

• When you walk, you breathe. It took me two years to learn the advanced 10 steps and one breath technique, though you might be faster.

🔥STARTING SAMURAI STAGE: 1st level >

Increase the exhalation length!

Firstly, take three steps, one quick breath in or inhale deeply.

Secondly, take three more steps, breathe out, one deep continuous exhale breath. Repeat.

✨🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹✨✨✨🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹✨✨✨🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹✨✨✨

You are alternating feet, right and then left and then right again, so imagine you are cutting different sides of heads as you complete one continuous breath.

Because you are moving forward in a battle, opponents to the right and left and right. Each step is a cut. Imagine your hand is a sword or karate chop. One long continuous long breath out!

✅Try for 15 minutes or so, and if you get dizzy, return to normal breathing. Repeat.

🔥NEXT SAMURAI STAGE: 4th level > Increase the exhalation length more!

• Firstly, take three steps, breathe in or inhale deeply as before.

Secondly, take four more steps forward, breathe out deeply, one continuous exhale.

• Again. Try do walk about 15 minutes alternating steps, and if 4 steps with one breath is too hard, return to 3 steps, exhaling one continuous breath remember. Okay?

🔥NEXT SAMURAI STAGE: 5th level >✅

More steps by completing one continuous exhalation:

• Firstly, take three steps, breathe in or inhale deeply as before, quickly.

 • Secondly, take five more steps, breathe out deeply, one continuous exhalation. REMEMBER > > > Count five steps with one long breathe.

✅Again try 15 minutes of this.

🔥NEXT SAMURAI STAGES: 6,. . . . 10 > Work it!

• Keep increasing. I was slow to do this right.

 • No hurry, for it takes months, and perhaps only weeks for you? Maintain at least 15 more.

✅Reverse Abdominal Breathing: The Key

 • CORRECT METHOD is to breathe in and make the chest big. Breathe out make the tummy big.

🔥THE FINAL SAMURAI STAGE: the 10th Level

Firstly, take three steps, breathe in or inhale deeply as before, one continuous breath, and this might only be two steps or up to 4 steps; that is your choice.

 • Secondly, take ten more steps forward, breathe out deeply, one continuous exhale.

You have killed ten men with ten cuts, but only one continuous breath.

Below is Kirikaeshi: 10 strikes one breath. This is required for your first test. It is not easy.

All workouts begin with Kirikaeshi and end with Kirikaeshi. This the hardest things to learn but the most fundamental. Watch!

✅SAMURAI OUTCOMES✅

• Now you have more energy and are less tired while walking.

 • It has real healing power. It helped me. I was in so much pain growing up.

 • You can hum out as you breathe out. One continuous hum.

✅Meditation: MUSHIN✅

• As you concentrate on one long breath, you are meditating and often cannot focus on stressful worries. Remember if a samurai started to worry or was stressed out, he probably lost his head. No thought becomes the mantra - Mushin or No Mind. This helps create a regeneration and healing.

✅INTRUDER: Arthritis✅

At one point, I practiced this type of breathing for 3 hours a day. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once at night. I added it to walking. I walked 3 hours a day doing mindful breathing that the samurai developed.

I was teaching online during the pandemic. My knees and ankles hurt from years of pain by my arthritis. I couldn't take 3 steps without it hurting. I went to doctors. I did physical therapy.

Nothing worked.

I accidentally discovered that my pain went away by practicing so much. Not completely, but I now don't take pain medication.

Also I started to do my yoga as my physical therapy. My yoga teacher taught me ways to alter my stretchers. I am about to be certified in Yoga.

🔥INTRUDER Alert > CANCER✅

• This all prepared me to be able to fight the Intruder, Cancer!

 • It was completely successful. YEAH!

I was able to relax and take less pain medication. I added positivity while I was in Cancer Hell. I smiled and was nice to the nurses.

✅REMEMBER THE GOLDEN SAMURAI WARRIOR RULE: NEVER HOLD YOUR BREATH.✅

• Does this make sense? You can do this just sitting in meditation without walking. It is harder. Monks do rhythmic breathing too. It is a secret. Yoga also does this. All martial arts do it. No one teaches this. Remember it is our secret. Shhhhhhhh.

Often we breathe in strange ways when we are stressed. This causes us to feel fatigued.

Do Samurai Breathing when driving, thinking, sitting, . . . . All the time if you can. It will liberate your soul. And you will feel more energetic, lighter, and younger.

You can tell if someone lies by how they breathe. I can tell who is an advanced student by the method of their breath. They were probably masters.

If they are holding their breath when I fight them, they are doomed.

I used to be a street fighter. I usually can tell within seconds if I can beat someone.

If they are relaxed, at peace, and not stressed, I never fought them.

They could be trouble. They might be a secret SunShine Samurai who practiced mindful breathing. LOL.

As soon as they started to call me names, raised their voice, and looked angry, they were dead meat.

However, I found myself in peace with gangs who often avoided me. I never confronted them, so they never confronted me. Peace brings peace.

They in fact, tried to recruit me because I was fearless. I never joined.

10 Samurai Steps, with one continuous exhalation breath > Tell me! ✅

Let the healing sunshine or chi within float and bring you energy as you breathe. Find peace! War is trouble.
