Walking, as we all know, is a terrific way to lose weight, maintain weight, relieve stress, be in nature; the benefits go on and on. I personally LOVE WALKING but do I find myself walking daily? No, only to walk my dog short walks. Why? because getting dressed, getting my earphones, my keys and actually going outside to walk on a daily basis, is just not in the cards for me as much as I would like it to be, believe me I have tried again and again. I need something I can do 'realistically' on a daily basis to hit my goals and gain the benefits of moving but not feeling defeated when I just can't get myself to alot 30 minutes to an hour to go outside after work. Not to mention, if it's raining or too hot just gives me more excuses not to do it.
This is where the beauty of Rebounding has entered my life! I was at the store one day browsing and I came across the fitness section, saw a rebounder and said "hmmm this has been everywhere maybe I should try it". The rebounder was on sale and so I took it as a sign to purchase it. I'm not going to lie, putting this thing together was awful and hard. I don't know if all the brands that make these rebounders are the same but getting the bands to go around the mat and put into place is a job for a man or someone that is VERY strong. I almost gave up it was so difficult. The bands are so tight and hard there's a special technique to get them to link together but even with that it's not easy. I advise you get someone, a man, to assist you when putting one together so you don't hurt yourself or your hands.
Rebounding has gained popularity as the "new walking" for several reasons. This trend reflects a growing appreciation for low-impact, effective, and fun exercise options. The reason I am obsessed with rebounding, is because I pull it out of my spare closet, I put it right down and start jumping while I listen to music, podcasts or just watch tv while I do a series of different jumps. I like to follow 'Madi Finney' on Tik Tok for move inspirations or you can go to Youtube and search rebounding workout for some ideas.
The beauty of rebounding exercise is I get my cardio in, in less than 30 minutes, I'm guaranteed to ALWAYS be motivated enough to do it right in my house, no fuss, no hassle.
Rebounding is great low impact movement that works all the little muscles in your body. It's also great for lymphatic drainage in your body which is also a huge benefit.
One of the not talked about benefits for LADIES OVER 40 is, it makes our pelvic floor stronger! I'm sure some of you over 40 have experienced a weaker pelvic floor which leads to urinary leakage and in some cases leading to sling procedures and other surgeries to keep it from falling. Well jumping up and down while constricting your pelvic floor is a great way to keep that part of your body strong.
I also incorporate a sweat waist trainor for extra stomach toning as well as one to two pound wrist weights to tone my arms. I like this trainor by Sweet Sweat sold by Sports Research.
