Why just 10 minutes a day can be the best choice you make
With everything going on in the world right now, meditation might be exactly what your mind (and your body) needs to get through the day.
I know we've all heard this a million times, but trust me, IT HELPS!
And what's great is that there are so many apps and sites you can use to help you get started! Headspace and Calm are two excellent apps that I have used and absolutely love! And if you don't want to use those, YouTube is full of guided and unguided meditations!
For more than two years now, I have been consistently meditating every day for at least ten minutes, and it has really been a life changer. I feel like all of the stressful situations and the things I can't control in my life just don't really affect me anymore.
When first making the decision to meditate, it may seem like a daunting task and you might be thinking, "There is no way I can sit still for ten minutes and do nothing", or you might even be thinking "I just don't have the time to meditate." But trust me it is way easier than it sounds, and you DO have the time!
Now, meditation is simple, all you have to do is sit still or lay down and close your eyes; next, just breathe. You don't have to breathe in any special way, but just put all of your focus on your breath and let your mind relax.
Every now and again you'll notice your mind wander and you'll start thinking about what you might be doing later that day or maybe what you're going to eat for breakfast. That's okay! Don't try to force yourself to stop these thoughts; instead, relax, breathe, and slowly bring your thoughts back to your breath.
A great thing to do while meditating is to meditate with intention. Think about something you want in your life and truly feel that you already have it. Because you do! The universe has already prepared this for you, all you have to do is believe!
You can also ask a question out to the universe that you've been wondering about. It could be anything! Then just focus on your breath for the next ten minutes and let your intuition kick in. Sometimes you'll notice that you've had the answer all along and it'll pop right into your head. Sometimes the answer may not even come during your meditation, but instead it may come to you when you least expect it throughout your day.
All you need to do is have trust!
The answer is already there!
After meditating for over two years, it has truly become the most important part of my day. It completely prepares my mind and body for anything that might happen that day, including any new opportunities that might come my way that I may not have noticed before because I was too stressed or too overwhelmed with all of the thoughts swimming in my head.
Once you give meditation a try, I truly believe that you WILL stick with it and that you WILL notice the incredible changes and opportunities that come to your life!
All you have to do is...
Relax...
Close your eyes...
And breathe...
