It might surprise some persons to learn that money really doesn’t magically fix every single problem you might have in your life, that's a sentiment that a lot of persons have and they procrastinate on dealing with many of their issues because they feel like once they become wealthy, then all that is left is just happiness, this couldn’t be any further from the truth. Money does solve a lot of issues but there are some problems which are beyond money to solve, issues which don’t require money, so many of them that I can’t even list here right now. How would you explain lottery winners committing suicide or celebrities dealing with mental issues. In effect, when you get money, you just trade your problems for others, now it all depends on how well you can handle these new problems.

This is to say that no matter where you are, what you do or what you have, there are still some issues you will inevitably have to deal with in your life and there is no magical way of out of them, I can’t give you one single solution to everything you might be going through but there is at least a specific state of mind you have to be in if you want to deal with any problem and that state is that of Peace. You must be calm, composed, focused and determined in order to deal with any possible problem, I can’t imagine a scenario where you have to be agitated in order to find a solution, it might happen that we are in an emergency which puts us in this state of agitation but in order to make the best possible decision, you must be able to calm yourself and think it out.

A state of calmness

There are some impactful decisions which aren’t easy to make and in order for you to make these decisions, you have to make sure you think things out concretely, before you can do this, you must bring your mind to a state of calmness, not necessarily stillness but you must be able to slow things down in your head so that you can have enough time to assimilate what's happening and what needs to be done. It is for this specific goal that meditation is the most useful, it's a tool which brings our minds (and bodies) to a stand still in order to slow things down and give us a broader perspective on whatever is happening. When you enter this state of meditation, you are able to calm your mind and really focus on whatever you decide to, this brings you to a state of calmness which expands your mind.

I think meditation is often considered as sitting in a specific position and not speaking but it can be expanded in many ways, for example when you are studying, you are technically meditating on those books, brainstorming is also another form of meditation, it's literally those instances when you are totally focused on a specific thing and you apply your body, soul and mind to it, that to me can be considered as meditation.

Listen to your mind

There could be many forms but I prefer intentional meditation which is when I voluntarily isolate myself just to be with my thoughts, my preferred position is leaning while sitting against a wall, I could close my eyes but I prefer to keep them open because I might easily sleep off if they are closed. I make sure there is as little noise as possible around me and no one is going to interrupt me because sometimes it might feel creepy. The first step is controlling my breathing, the second step is getting into my mind and asking myself “what are you worried about?”. From there on I really explore everything that is in my mind, the fears, the problems, the worries, the strengths and the solutions. I always come out very much refreshed and ready to deal with all the challenges ahead. By taking that moment to think about everything it reassures me about my decisions and why I made them.

Rushed Decisions

The necessity of meditation is because a lot of our emotions and decisions can be influenced by others very easily, we usually make horrible financial decisions because of emotional biases, we rush into doing terrible things out of emotional outburst and you can easily see that everyday on the news, when people get into deadly fights just over what could even be a petty argument, you see people spend all of their income on things which they don’t really need just to satisfy an insecurity. Those decisions which you feel bad later on when you think about them, but with meditation, you will be much more comfortable with any choice you make because you would have gone through all the reasons and effects those will have in your life. If it were possible for us to stop time before taking any decision then we would be much happier but more often than not, we rush in to the wrong choices then stand to regret them later on.

Wrap your mind around the problem

It doesn’t really matter what the problem is here, meditation isn’t the solution to the problem, but rather the solution to bring your mind into the right state to make the best decision. All decisions require some level of meditation, some more than others, deciding to change city isn’t the same as changing your shampoo brand, in the same manner dealing with emotional issues isn’t the same as running a company with millions of employees but for all these decisions, your mind must be in the right state in order for you to make the right decisions. Sit down, close your eyes and meditate on the problem, think intently about everything which affects that problem, how you feel about it, the consequences present and future and all the other alternatives at your disposal.

Live with that decision

Its easier to make a decision than to live with it

I think the biggest challenge of every decision isn’t about making it but rather about accepting to live with it, of course anybody can decide to jump off a building or burn their money in the lottery, making that decision isn’t the hard part, what's actually difficult is living with the consequences of that decision. Some people don’t care about throwing their lives away for their ideals and they are fine with that, it's all about what you are ready to live with more than it's about choosing the right path. Meditate to control your emotions, don’t let them get the best of you and take you down a path you aren’t prepared for, you are the one in control so don’t let your emotions or personal biases dictate what you should do or how you should feel, through meditation, take control of your entire life.
