Have You Eaten Your Dirt Today?
That's right, have you eaten your yummy dirt today? Dirt is essential to your body. Well, let me be a little more clear. Dirt is a mixture of all sorts of microorganisms and minerals. But don't start picking it up and eating it just yet. Not just any dirt will do and you don't need to eat all of it. There is one important component of dirt I'm talking about. It's vitamin B12.

My Life With No Sight
A week until my sight will be taken from me. My chest aches with grief and discomfort and a piece of my heart had shattered. A world of light would soon be cloudy. I am scared of the process, yet I cannot help but wonder how life may be without my sight. This makes me feel a little uncomfortable and also fills me with mixed emotions because I know my life would not be the same as it is now. With news like that, I know I would have to change how I live. Deep down, I know it will be hard and I'm scared, but I cannot let that define me. Otherwise, I would not be Concera. I'm an artist, a reasonable person, and very understanding. I have to be strong.

Your Fitness Success
It is never easy to try to get in shape and it does not matter if it is a New Year's Resolution or not. Most people fail because they don't properly prepare and/or train. Some people just lose their motivation. There are several reasons why this happens; poor scheduling, unrealistic goals, improper management of time, internal doubt, naysayers, actual failure because of lack of goals and objective setting. All of these can and will make you fail at your attempt at a higher fitness level. In some cases, people think that they can start today and achieve it tomorrow and that is just not realistic.

First Year as a Big Yoga Teacher
I’d like to start by saying it hasn’t been easy. I could just focus on the positive, but I believe there is always a dark to the lightness, a Yin to the Yang. There is balance, and I don’t believe in “just being positive” all the time. I did that for a long time (in my twenties) and it didn’t serve me in the end. There is always a time to step back and look at the big picture, some of it’s good and some of it’s not so good. I feel it’s important to honor the times when we aren’t feeling so positive.

The Not-so Pretty Side Of Yoga
I've noticed how people on the cover of yoga magazines always look so pretty. They're dressed to the nines in the latest yoga gear, hair perfectly placed around their bursting smiles. The cover model has perfected whichever advanced yoga posture they are showcasing that month. Now don't get me wrong, I respect these magazines (and to be honest, I am one of those yogis that can contort her body into most of those poses). I was born with ligaments that bend like Gumby, and because of the anatomy of my body, this is possible, not because I have some special gift or I'm by any means more "enlightened" than the less bendy. As I glance over these magazines from time to time, I begin to daydream on what it would look like to show the not so pretty side of yoga? Those days when we are not at our best but we show up to the mat and practice regardless. I will say the further down the yogic path I go the more layers are revealed, and some of my most gifted teachers have reaffirmed to me that this path is not always pretty.

How to Treat a Sprained Ankle
I messed up my right ankle two weeks straight back in January and I was rendered unable to do much except stay home and write, also being forced to drive everywhere instead of burning calories by walking. Twisting an ankle is not the same thing as spraining an ankle. Ankles that are swollen are sprained. I saw my psychiatrist one day to ask her what to do, then I went to urgent care. Repeated or severe sprains can cause joint pain. Ankle sprains come from moving your feet too fast. I imagine it happened when I walked to Target with my cart to get food. I walked home that day, and I think that’s when it might have happened.

How I Overcame Avoiding Certain Meals, to Loving Eating Through a Healthier Lifestyle!
The standard Americanized breakfast usually—the first things that pop into my mind—consists of pancakes and syrup, eggs and bacon, and biscuits and gravy. None of those things ever settled right with my body. I may like the taste of those foods occasionally, but most of the time I cannot stand the thought of buttery, greasy foods like most everybody I know enjoys indulging themselves in first thing in the morning.
