The Role of Social Media in Improving Transgender Health Care
Throughout America, transgender patients are struggling due to failures in the health care system. Health care ought to be designed to be inclusive for all types of patients, but most doctors have little or no knowledge of what transgender patients need or how to understand and help them. Access to proper health care can literally be a life or death situation for some. Transgender patients require certain treatments which might include hormone therapy or surgery. These treatments can cost up to tens of thousands of dollars, which most insurance policies refuse to cover. Expenses aside, many doctors don’t have knowledge of or experience with these treatments and often see them as being elective. Patients who live in rural communities, or have no major cities nearby are often out of luck, as most transgender-friendly doctors and clinics are in major cities such as New York or Miami.

I was intimidated to ask my parents if I could try it, as I had no idea how much it cost or if they would approve as it was a more "masculine sport" that normally had young boys enroll. Now as an adult, I regret not asking them. Who knows now if I would've gotten involved and what kind of person I'd be today?

How to Wake up Before 5 AM
The alarm goes off at precisely 4:30 AM. I hear the familiar melody screaming at me from the hallway. Groaning, I force my bleary eyes open, one after the other. My hand reaches out for the light switch, scrambling in the dark. Bright light invades my bed and pulls my legs over the edge. All the while, the alarm continues to beat itself into my skull. I quickly stumble toward the hallway to relieve myself of this assault on my tranquility. By 4:31, I have successfully beaten both the alarm and my own propensity to stay snuggled up in a warm bed. I head to the kitchen to begin my day...
