The Balancing Act of Type 1 Diabetes
On an Easter Sunday April 1st, 2010, eight years ago, my life immensely changed, when I found out I was a Type 1 Diabetic. At the age of twelve I basically took on the major role of becoming my pancreas. I had to learn how many carbs are in everything I eat, I had to learn how much insulin to give to cover every carb I ate, I had to learn how to treat high and low blood sugars appropriately, I had to learn how to poke myself, so that I could test my blood sugar and to give myself insulin shots. The learning kept coming, and it still hasn’t stopped.

We Need to Talk About Ableism in the LGBT+ Community
I started to write this on the train home from the National Union of Students (NUS) LGBT+ Conference, a conference where access needs were repeatedly ignored, the catering was sub-par at best, and a motion was submitted that listed disabilities as flaws, and disabled LGBT+ people as “followers” of the cause. This is what I am going to find out.

My Medical... Story? I Guess
My story started with a horrible accident... I was in the 5th grade, maybe 10-years-old. It was spring break at the time and my best friend lived down the street. We were riding our bikes up the street at a hill that had a pretty big slice through the front corner that made a wedge kinda shape big enough that we could play in.

Why Is It so Hard to Lose Weight?
Why is it so hard to lose weight? I am 28 years old, I’m 5'3'' with “Nanny King” boobs, as my family lovingly refers to them. This is their kind way of saying gigantic and will some day see your knees, because gravity is not kind, boobs.

Holistic Health
The shamans and healers of old always looked at the whole person they were treating. They knew that a person was so much more than just a physical vessel called the body. In fact, treating the soul was first and foremost so that the body could begin its healing process.

60 Miles in 60 Days (Week 1)
Week 1 I’ve been thinking about writing this for a while and I thought it was time since I had just finished my third Nike Running App programme with little success. The goal was to complete 12 miles during the four-week programme, yet I didn’t even manage a third of that.
