Imperfect over perfect businesses, here is why

Perfect businesses last shorter than the imperfect ones

Have you ever thought why an outsider gives better relationship advise to the ones inside the relationship? The answer is simple; it doesn’t involve his/her emotions directly linked to the ones inside the psychological bubble and same goes for every business. One of the hardest things to judge when you start your own business is how it is perceived! And you deliberately focus on what appealed you on social platforms recently when you start marketing. And that is the time when your mind starts to get trapped unknowingly.

In my business experience, I have seen company owners think they know, but they realize afterwards that a lot is missing and they thought they were marketing in the right direction, with the right content but the problem is first timers are not a good judge when it comes to how your business is perceived; one of the reasons marketing agencies are still hot. Individual startups and SME’s with amazing ideas never scaled up and now defunct because of the void that couldn’t be filled by the leaders: how to make their business standout or why they can not make profit?

Why do businesses fail? How can it be psychological?

The reason is not that the business is not well-presented but the reason is that the marketeer or product developer seeks perfection according to their conscious brain whereas the people who see, process or buy from their unconscious, signaling their consciousness that its good or perfect. But sadly, perfection is just a concept of how you perceive things over time; it’s a state of opinion that is different for a lot, which leads to the greatest companies with extraordinary products drown over time. If they were actually perfect, they would have stayed in the market whereas companies like coca-cola, Cadbury or shell have stayed in business over a century! Can you say the company or their products are actually perfect and nothing is better? Can you say that the most watched videos on Tiktok or Instagram are the ones that deserve to be on top? Do you think miss universe is the most beautiful woman in this world? Or do we consume imperfection so much that we do not know what is near-perfect anymore?

When an entrepreneur produces products and markets it perfectly according to his senses, he has wired his emotions to the product/advertisement and this emotions is majorly proven pessimistic. The unexpected result or even half of what he/she has aimed for, affects their drive and personal motivation collapses impeccably, leading to the gradual decline of their business because emotions are driving their motivation. Ultimately, high expectations in the initial stages pulls the companies down slowly closing the ‘probability’ to standout in their niche. Whereas, mostly ,experienced companies focus on a good product which has one or some unique selling pointers. Their expectations are ‘good not great’, which doesn’t affect their expectations! They are consistent and are more responsive and vigilant to finding loopholes that affect their sales. This is one major reason they survive, scale up and sustain their positions in the market. Where as the newcomers might try to be steadfast but the initial damage already makes their persistency a burden, which can not be done with the same intensity unless results achieved.
