I tried the Couch-to-5K app
From college couch potato door dashing to runner

With the start of the new year, I wanted to challenge myself to something I never do and see If I can turn it into a part of my lifestyle permanently. During the start of January adding something new to my lifestyle was an ongoing start, I didn't know what It would be but I figured it out soon... after a few daily orders from Door Dash.
I did some fun research on YouTube like 30 Day running challenges, Vegan Challenges and 30 Day fitness Journey videos! I decided to hop onto it otherwise I would never begin. To start a habit is sometimes hard, especially when Its adding onto your lifestyle. I had no idea where to begin so for free of charge, I came across this app "C25k" by ZenLabsFitnesss! (both in the google play and apple store for FREE)
The first day starts you off running for 30 seconds and then walking for a minute and 30 seconds for 6 times. That's what was the first week consisted of. Week two the minutes kept adding onto the running but it was manageable to do even for someone like me, a complete couch potato.
Week 3 to 6 were the hardest but a tip of advice, push through you've got this! week 3 and 6 were the same running now 6 to 8 minutes.
week 7 and 8 was when the app will start making you run 20 minutes straight nonstop. I didn't think i could do it but i shockingly did after 2 days of running 20 mins nonstop. I skipped week 9 because it just made you do the same from week 8 and ran the last day before the app considers you a graduate and ran the 5k, I had done. It took me less than 30 days to.. well 25 days but still, I had gone from complete couch lover, not being able to run for a minute to running 40-50 minutes nonstop.
Would I recommend this app? definitely. I dreaded the idea of running, but after two weeks into the app, i saw a difference in my legs and mental health. I felt much happier, confident and less stressed. I lost about 10lbs too which is a win to me.
Will I keep running? Yes! I love running and the way it impacts my mood after a run and the next day, I'm already on day 36 If I kept counting the days. But an evening run is now a must do everyday!
If you decide to take up this challenge for permanent change as well, keep going, some days will be hard and you will have to grasp for air but this app helps work you up slowly so that you can be that amazing runner in you! You've got this! Lets start (or even late start!) this new year with health and fitness goals!
