How I Lost Weight with Meditation and Red Light Therapy

I have always struggled with my weight. Ever since I was a kid, I was overweight and bullied for it. I tried every diet and exercise program out there, but nothing worked for me. I would lose some weight and then gain it back, plus more. I felt hopeless and unhappy.
I was also an emotional eater. I would eat whenever I felt stressed, sad, angry, or bored. Food was my comfort and my escape. I didn’t care about the consequences of my eating habits, as long as I felt better in the moment.
But then something changed. I discovered meditation and red light therapy. These two practices changed my life and helped me lose weight and improve my health. Here’s how they did it.
Meditation for Weight Loss
Meditation is a practice that helps you connect your mind and body and achieve a sense of calm. By meditating regularly, you can become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and sensations in the present moment. This can help you develop a better understanding of yourself, including how your mind and body work.

This increased awareness helped me change my eating habits and lose weight. Here are some ways that meditation helped me with weight loss:
Meditation helped me curb emotional and stress-related eating. By becoming more aware of my thoughts and emotions, I could recognize those times when I ate because I was stressed, rather than hungry. I also learned to cope with stress in healthier ways, such as breathing exercises or positive affirmations.
Meditation helped me eat more mindfully. By paying attention to my sensations and feelings while eating, I could enjoy my food more and feel more satisfied. I also learned to listen to my body’s signals of hunger and fullness and avoid overeating or undereating.
Meditation helped me make better food choices. By being more mindful of my eating habits, I could identify the triggers that made me crave unhealthy foods or binge eat. I also learned to appreciate the benefits of nutritious foods and choose them more often.
Meditation helped me maintain weight loss and a healthy weight for the long term. Meditation helped my weight loss efforts stick. While diet and exercise helped me reach my weight loss goals, meditation alongside healthy eating and exercise made weight loss efforts sustainable.
Meditation also had many benefits for my physical and mental health, such as improved mood and self-esteem, enhanced sleep quality and energy levels, reduced inflammation and chronic pain, increased creativity and productivity.
Red Light Therapy for Weight Loss
While meditation helped me lose weight and improve my health, there was another natural and effective way to boost my weight loss efforts: red light therapy.
Red light therapy is a treatment that uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular processes in your body. Red light therapy can penetrate deep into your tissues and organs and affect various aspects of your metabolism, such as:
Fat burning. Red light therapy helped me burn more fat by increasing the activity of the mitochondria, the energy-producing organelles in my cells. This increased my calorie expenditure and reduced my body fat percentage.
Hormone balance. Red light therapy helped me balance my hormones, such as thyroid hormones, insulin, cortisol, and leptin. These hormones regulate my metabolism, appetite, blood sugar, stress response, and weight.
Inflammation reduction. Red light therapy helped me reduce inflammation in my body, which improved my insulin sensitivity, blood flow, and immune function. This prevented or reversed metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes, or fatty liver disease.

For example, a 2012 study found that red light therapy combined with exercise resulted in a significant reduction in body fat percentage, waist circumference, hip circumference, and body mass index compared to exercise alone. A 2018 study found that red light therapy alone reduced body fat mass by 2.15 kg in obese women compared to a placebo group.

My Weight Loss Story

I eat to nourish my body and mind and enjoy the pleasure of eating.
