Free Weekly Reading #6 for 2021

Mirror Dragon Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

This week the Earth and Fire aspects from last week carry on and actually seem to have taken some definitive steps along the paths of their respective suits. We go from the ace to the two of Wands at the center and the cumulative and settled fours holding either side to the action based princes.

The Center card this week is the 2 of Pentacles.

The twos of the Tarot depict an awareness of the whole. With the aces we find the energy of each suit in its purest form. When we have purity and Oneness there is no way to know self as self simply IS. It is with separation that we find awareness and recognition. As with a mirror, the doubling and reflection of the 2 allows us to have an experience of that energy at its essence. With the 2 of Pentacles we see the reality of our physicality and our resources. We recognize that we are “spiritual beings having a physical experience.” Standing in this recognition of physical reality we are now able to determine what resources we have and how to utilize and engage them as tools to give form to our desires and dreams. As we saw last week our structure and boundaries have shifted, broken down, expanded or even been blown to bits and this new open space we’ve revealed allows us room to play with our dreams and ideas.

The Princes of each suit are nothing if not playful. I like to call them the adolescent boys of the Tarot. They’re daring, curious, and have the courage of the inexperienced. With the idea that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, like a child who walks along balanced on the top edge of a fence with no fear of gravity because they’ve never been told how the pull of the Earth works, they just know they can walk. Or the kid who hops on the new skateboard he got for his birthday without any regard for the helmet, gloves, elbow and knee pads you also gave him. Off he zooms while you stand there holding the safety equipment which, for you, was the most important part of the gift and feeling pretty uneasy about the fence he’s headed towards at full speed. This is the unbridled excitement and anticipation of exploring the unknown and as you watch that fence race up before him one of two things will happen. Either he’ll smash into the fence and come back for the helmet and pads, or he’ll blow right through that fence as though it were never there. And that’s where the magic lies. How often in our lives do we see fences that only really exist because someone told us they did or because “everybody” knows there’s a fence? The princes poke at the fabric of reality to find where the holes are and jump through them.

In the West position we have the Prince of Pentacles.

This is the daring part of us that asks is it really the energy or the time or the money that gets in my way? Does that camera I need for the amazing project I’m working on really need to be expensive? Or can I find the same device on FB market or at a swap shop or pawn shop. (personal note: The diamond engagement ring I wear was found in a pawn shop for ¼ the cost of the “perfect” ring I saw at a high end jeweler in town. In fact, it was made there and is the same style, size and quality.) The Prince of Earth encourages us to play with the reality of perceived value, predetermined physical restrictions and unusual or eccentric sources of assistance.

The East card is the Prince of Wands.

With this prince the brilliant flame of curiosity lights up our realization of new ideas and dreams. There is so much we can do now that we’ve burned up our old boundaries and restrictions. As we discover new ways of working “outside the lines” the sheer novelty and innovation opens our eyes to ideas for what greater things we can do with the quirky, odd, unusual new ways of using our resources. One of my favorite movies is “Contact” with Jodi Foster. Towards the end of the film, her character is strapped to a seat inside a spinning set of rings that are intended to launch her out into space and possibly a different dimension. The chair she is strapped into was never in the original plans recovered from her contact with an otherworldly message sent from space. It was added by the human engineers for increased safety. After ignition the chair begins to shake violently and we see her release herself from the restraints and float free just before the chair collapses in on itself. It would have crushed her had she been in it. My point is, when working with new resources using old information can in the least be unsuccessful and at worst catastrophic. This week let old ways go so that new ways can thrive.

In Conclusion;

Over recent weeks we’ve been stretching ourselves in ways we never thought we’d need -or be able to- stretch. We’re recognizing sources of energy, time, tools, finances and ability far beyond and outside of what we’ve known in the past. Those resources spark new ideas and curiosity backed by a determination and will that’s taken on new passion. Expect to find yourself pushing and poking at the fabric of reality this week. Our inquisitiveness is high and matched by a sense of intrepid fearlessness.

Have a curious week!

Light, Tory
