Don’t Hate Just Meditate
Be Real and Real With Yourself
If you never look inside you can never change the world around you, we live on earth but there are 7 billion worlds because we all view the planet differently. If you aren’t going to be real with yourself, please do not read this book, because I wouldn’t even want you to waste your time reading my book. Why lie for more reads? I’ve always been told to be careful saying things like this, but somewhere down the line you’re going to have to look in that mirror and face who you are, where you have come, and who you have become. I’ll start us with a poem.
If I see no error in my ways how can expect better days
When I cry, I cry alone
The same way I jump into the unknown
Shown only chaos
In my search for peace
From west to east
I’ve become one with my beast
My imperfections are my perfections
Imbalanced my darkness my light
My fear
I here it sitting within me
But I jump in head first
In myself and only balance I seek
What is Meditation To Me
In my Life I have found meditation is recommended to so many, but in reality… when you go to meditate you have no clue what to do. I’ve found meditation is a lifestyle, in the time I have lived and will die, I have realized there is a battle of good and evil going within yourself all the time.It doesn't matter: your gender, race, or political beliefs we are all searching for a correct way of living, hoping, to be the best version of yourself; one must realize we don’t all have the same rights and wrongs, as none of us have lived the same life so what we see as just, will differ, because no one way of living is the correct way and the same is for meditative practice. I’ve always wondered this, as I've encountered as well as studied people who are truly free let their mind become as water or air and adapt to the situation by changing their perspective or strategy in the moment in order to progress in their oneness. It is no different in a person who is a fighter or a scholar, a truly educated person will always take in the things, they see greater than themselves, and apply the education, you see if you don’t apply what you have learned it is a waste. Michael Jordan shot his famous game 6 shot in Utah a million times before he took that shot, when he was shooting in practice did he know he’d shoot that shot the he did that night, probably not, but he knew eventually he was going to shoot from the top of the key at some point; so what does he do? He works inside and slowly outside but he does this everyday so when it’s happening, shooting a shot close is the same as shooting it far shot, because it’s subconscious for him. It does not matter if you have a degree if you don’t apply the education, you’re just an individual with a lot of debt and random facts, it doesn’t matter if you’re the best at it either, because the person who you see as the best once was in the same place as you, so take the time to remember that moving slow + application of education is everything for my practice. Next door to that is always be the dumbest person in the room + most free, a person who can’t take an insult has a golden aura it’s deflecting everything; and a person who is seen as the dumbest or the under dog has the greater capability to win in whatever they truly set their heart too, the reason being so much already been said to them, their aura is strong because their will is strong, to break them when they are determined is not possible. These principles I believe are necessary to free ones mind, there is no one way but many practices that are meant to be brought together, when you allow your mind true open nature, you will find your mind at peace with more than your ego can handle. As you read, keep what I have said to you in mind, and in due time you will find freedom in your mind. Someone says to you, “hey you should meditate,” then the thought of thinking nothing overwhelms some, others sit down and realize, even when you’re thinking of nothing, you guessed it you’re thinking. In my own meditative journey it’s that one, should focus on: the subconscious, occasional fasting, being real with yourself, muscle tension, breathwork, chakras (visualization & mantras), and slow consistency. Consistency is the most important thing for my personal practice, I can have all the intention in the world; but if I don’t eventually act on those thoughts, and I keep meaning to do something I will never get to it and my dreams will just die through time. The reason I am saying meditation is a lifestyle is due to the fact that you might not even try and find yourself in this translucent state, similar to when you end up at home and you wonder, how many stop signs did I run? Well, just like the amount of licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop, the world may never know and oh yea congratulations you meditated.
Subconscious and programming
Sometimes we have absolutely no idea where to start on something, that’s because we have no idea how our brain even works. In the Great Words of Cari Garcia Hypno/Massagetherapist and my previous instructor, “you’re an addict” that’s right you’ve never even done drugs and you’re addicted, all you addicts make me sick, don’t even know you have a problem. Of course I’m joking, in your life there is something that you do that if you stopped tomorrow it would be as if I’m walking up to you and chopping your dominant hand off and telling you to write an essay. I know a little morbid, anyway, It’s going to feel impossible because you have never done it, similar to a person who has never worked out and is being told to run a mile. Even though in sports most of us hated conditioning, you were reprogramming your brain and the minds of all your muscles to be able to continue to work when the body has checked out. Muhammad ali said that he didn’t begin to count until he felt his body get tired. Back to you, the person whose arm I chopped off, I didn’t forget about you, now my friend as you begin to write that it’s almost impossible; because you are learning to use an entire different side of your brain. It’s a conscious thought, you’re trying to write so hard that when you finally do, it’s some of the best chicken scratch in the nation. You only wrote down your abc’s and it took almost everything in your mind and your body. The reason being your mind and body are trying to lock the motion in, to create new neural paths, and as they have hardly ever done the motion so they have no muscle memory of each letter in that hand. You know what the letter looks like but the other side of your brain hasn’t learned the letters, while there is familiarity to the letter, the now dominant side of your brain can only improvise. Alright, as you continue to progress it’ll still be hard, but it will get easier, you see it slips through the analytical consciousness, this is the point in time where you can now write your name and other words. Now it still takes time but the muscles in your hand and mind are starting to grasp the muscle memory it takes to write each letter. This motion has now slid through to the analytical subconscious meaning, you can write a sentence without having to stop and reset yourself after every word. Once it slips through to the subconscious it has become a habit, and now that essay that seemed impossible to write at the beginning, is possible. At this point every word is written with ease because your brain and muscles have finally remembered the motions allowing for you to write, while thinking about the next sentence you’re going to write. Your subconscious is when something becomes apart of your essence, it is you, for instance; little kids and old people are going to be themselves, unapologetically and if they do hurt your feelings it wasn’t out of anger, they just don’t have a conscious or it no longer affects them. In other states it’s when your simply in flow.
My jaw is a little tight
While going through my journey of massage school I have found that of us, myself included, are focused in an instance such as : driving, lifting weights, taking stimulants, or even some hallucinogens can cause the jaw or other muscles to flex unconsciously. While attending National Holistic Institute, Cynthia Robero enlightened me to the fact that in order to engage the third eye; one should place their tongue on the root of your mouth. I decided why not try it, I started by at first remaining conscious of this as I would drive to and from school, and during this time I came to notice how tight my jaw was. I noticed I held the tension in my jaw, and almost as I noticed it was gone, this gave me the feeling of clarity, though the tension in the masseter is very much within the muscle, the memory of the muscles has been changed. For much of my life I was a person who’d have a lot to say but as I began to make an input, and was interrupted, I would just bite my tongue, well more like my jaw, but either way I wasn’t doing myself any good; instead of expressing my emotions I sent them into my jaw biting down subconsciously. Most people who have really tight jaws aren’t even aware that they have tight jaws because life happens outside of our body, and most of us are dealing with so many things exteriorly that we never check in with our bodies. As you check in with the jaw it makes checking with the rest of the body that much easier.
How to Breath
If I told most of you, that you were breathing incorrectly, you’d look at me like I’m crazy thinking “this 20 year old is going to tell me I don’t know how to breathe when I’ve been doing it my whole life.” We take on average 12 to 20 breaths a minute, averaging out to 5 to 3 seconds a breathe, now be honest before I told you and after you fact checked me, you probably didn’t know. What if I told you, that it could speed the healing process of the immune system, and even lengthen your attention span. The first breathing technique I was introduced to was box breathing by a shaman who explained it as breathing in for 4 seconds, holding it for 4 seconds, breathing out for 4 seconds, then holding that for 4 seconds. When you step into the world and it’s freezing cold, you mentally are trying to warm your body; and physically you might be rubbing your hands and blowing hot air into your palms. So I tell you to take a cold shower, and now you think “he’s most definitely crazy.” Believe it or not when your cousin thought it was funny as they put that ice down your back, that shock, it sent is actually referred to as appreciation of coldness. Yeah I know your conscious mind doesn’t appreciate it, although your body actually loves cold temperatures. Cryotherapy is a form of alternative care where your body undergoes near freezing or freezing temperatures for those reading who have joint pains or are wanting to recover faster, it has also been used to freeze off warts or cancerous cells, as well decrease inflammation. To spin your head again cold water swimmers who swim for an hour produce more white blood cells than those who don’t. Are we starting to see the correlation here? Howard Hoff the Iceman is the one who proved the theory that controlled breathing can not only regulate temperature by staying in ice for 1 hour and 53 minutes, but you can control the adrenaline levels in the body by sheer will, allowing you control over the immune system to fight off the flu and other diseases affected by the immune system. I’m not telling you to go into the snow and start with the Wim Hof method, no but, taking a cold shower after a warm one while practicing this technique is proven to bring not just your body, but your mind to new heights. The Wim Hof method is where one takes 30 quick breathes, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Followed by a deep breath exhaling all of the air from your body, holding until you need to breathe again and when you do hold it for 10 seconds. Go as long as you like, although it’s crucial you breathe outward from your diaphragm opposed to up and down from say your chest.Studies proved that those who take cold showers chances of getting sick decrease by 29%, after only showering for 30-90 seconds under cold water either after a warm shower or just taking a cold one for a month. “These same people continued to take them after the study, claiming that they felt more energy throughout their day”. Cold showers have been linked to habits, as people taking this time to do something they don’t want to do, or wouldn’t usually do makes the things in life you don’t want to do easier. Am I telling you to go walk into the freezer and start working your breathing; no, I’m suggesting you should consider cold temperatures to strengthen your will in order to have greater control of the regulation of your body temperature, and mind.. Your breath is your greatest asset in life, whenever things feel too much or a situation feels out of your control and your mind feels foggy, as long as you breathe a calm mind is to follow.
What’s a chakra man?
Every Chakra within us has a color, mantra, as well as body part that each chakra is connected to. Similar to life, no matter how great you become we all know that if a building looks amazing at the top but floor; but the infrastructure is weak, the days of that building lasting are numbered, because one shake from the earth will destroy everything. Now ask yourself what’s the difference between that infrastructure and yourself? If you woke up having a bad day, chances are the rest of the day will follow because that’s your basis of how your day began, and if something is to change that it’s going to have to be some really good news. In progression as a spiritual entity no matter how much you grow, as long as your physical body isn’t destroyed living on this earth you need to make sure you are grounded. My personal visualization technique when I decide to ground in, is thinking of my body being covered by vines, of the earth because Mother Earth Ghia is always giving us energy. While reading Charles D. Cosimano gave his audience a small practice I would like to suggest to you, as you inhale, hold the thought in your mind “so...” and as you exhale hold the thought of “om...” The trick is meant to send the 432 Hz frequency through the mind; allowing your brain a deeper connection to the world and universe as the chant is meant to tune the physical. That being said the Root chakra (1st chakra) is located at the base of the spine, the visualization color to keep in mind is red, in connection where the music tone is “e”; the base chakra preside over survival and the will to survive. In the most basic terms it’s your fight or flight response, now to balance this the mantra of inhaling “so’ and exhaling “Lam” 523Hz either in your mind or out loud. So whenever I am working towards balancing my chakras, when I first started the process of balancing my chakras I practiced the Cosimano technique for about a month and after built on this technique by focusing on one chakra a week and a half, but as I went to the next chakra, I would still keep in mind the chakra below it in the first 2 or 3 days and as the last 2 or 3 days I would keep in mind the chakras above to bring them in sync with the next. After the process as I feel an imbalance has occurred I’ll spend time balancing it and the others around it, due to the chakra network, if one is messed up it can lead to the others around feeling the same or worse. Now, back to the chakras, our Sacral Chakra (2nd Chakra) is next, Located above the tailbone, the visualization color is orange, the tone of voice is “D.” Presiding over ones: creativity, sexuality, money, as well as one's personal needs. Again as you inhale again think “so” and as you exhale “vam” 587Hz with both of your hands placed in your lap facing upward. The Solar Plexus (3rd Chakra) located 2 fingers above the navel, visualization color is yellow, with the voice tone “E.” The mantra is as follows: inhale thinking or saying “so” and exhaling with “ram” (659Hz) on your mind, residing over the network of nerves, and radiating fibers. Heart Chakra (4th Chakra) located at the middle of the chest, visualization colors being both pink as well as green. It’s voice tone is “F” ruling over: emotional issues, surrender, compassion; to meditate on this again inhale “so” now exhale “yam.” (698Hz) Our 5th Chakra or throat chakra is located, you guess it at the throat, visualization colors consists of blue or turquoise. It represents the voice “G” ruling over: communication, expression, listening, and information.Inhale “So” exhale “Ham” (196 Hz) Our 3rd eye (6th Chakra) located at the midline of the forehead slightly above the eyebrows, the tone it should be voiced at is “A.” Ruling over: imagination, intuition, and giving insight to who we are in the past and the physical. Inhale “so” exhale “Aum” (97Hz). 7th and final Chakra, is the Crown Chakra, is located above the top of the head visualization color are violet and white. Tone is voiced in “B”, and it rules over : Enlightenment, spirituality, connection to the universe, and other spiritual sources. Inhale “So” exhale “Ang” (123.5 Hz)
Occasional Fasting
So for all my broke people out there, those days where you drank water to stay full, or you were trying to save money, fun fact you were doing a form of fasting. Although the definition for fast is to abstain from any drink or food, especially as a religious observance. There are various forms of fasting that are made to compensate each person's lifestyle I was first introduced to this concept while watching spirit science during my freshman year of highschool; but it wasn’t until I listened to Kevin Gates talk about himself practicing Ramadan which, is a time of intermittent fasting where you wake early and eat before the sun rise, you then abstain from eating, drinking, or even chewing game until sunset. Now there is more to it obviously, but myself not being muslim I don’t feel comfortable enough with it, to speak upon it. Although intermittent fasting for the first couple days is the toughest, while holding the meditative process
It helps you to not focus on hunger, and after a while it doesn't even bother you. Let’s be real it’s tough to do that with no prior fasting history, so to get your brain into it without such extremity another form of fasting is drinking water all day, and large amounts of water when you’re hungry during the day. Fasting is used for various things, but the main goal is to cleanse you of yourself, it can be used for Religion, Cancer treatment, psychedelics it’s used across cultures, great; because we eat all year why can’t you take a month to let your body clean itself. It doesn’t matter how much money you make in this world if your body isn’t taken care of, age will catch your body sooner than later, and paint the picture of garbage upon garbage for generations building on earth, although the earth can still withstand carrying it. Eventually it will have to destroy it to rebuild it, you get new bones every 7-10 years (depending who you ask), meaning you literally are what you eat; and if you decide to eat one way and eat like that on a daily basis it’s good to give your body time to cycle all that we’ve eaten throughout the year. The stomach is another brain, so just like when you’re learning at a rapid rate, and it takes for your brain to digest the information in before it can comfortably take a test; because constantly eating with no thought of time or how much is the same as cramming for a Final when you have a D in the class and you need to get an on the final A in order to pass. Look, to me a C is a passing grade, but what if you had to do that everyday with a different test, with no summer break, I get it, it might sound like a stretched out or complicated scenario for some. But for some that’s exactly how they treat their stomach, and look I'm not telling you what to eat, or how to eat, but I’m giving you something to consider to allow your stomach time to digest. The body is the temple, the only important thing to me written in the bible. Everybody has a body.
Slow it Down.... you gotta slow it down
We all move through life at our own speed, most of our younger generation unconsciously moves fast in almost every decision we make. If I tell you that if we were to slow down every motion just by say half a second, that when you went back to full speed you would grasp the concept or strengthen your muscles far more? For some that’s common sense others that’s completely absurd. With that in mind your brain is a muscle that just so happens to hold loads of memories; so the question is why don’t the other 300 muscles have that same ability? Well they do, your muscles hold memories and even trauma to the point of when one cries from a massage it’s referred to as an emotional release, because your muscles are letting go of the trauma left behind from the time the muscle was shocked or injured in the past. So as one slows the motion of what they’re doing they allow the subconscious and conscious mind to create a new bond with mind and body creating a new muscle memory; because you’re consciously going through and correcting actions that have been done incorrectly for who knows how long, the brain and that muscle work together which is why terry crews can flex his pecs the way he does, because the mind body connection is stronger than say someone who gets home and watches TV all day everyday. As you slow down every motion you’re going through; the conscious mind I spoke of earlier will have a greater concept in comparison to someone who started at say normal or full speed. I am not saying that both people do not learn the same thing over time, no, i’m simply saying the person who is learning slower has more time for their brain to analyze no matter the task. This was first introduced to me while working at Demor Hotspot Therapy studying under the owner William Kennamore, and developer of the Demor treatment; I noticed as I spoke to many of the older clients they all expressed to me that when they were younger and working out, they were doing too much way to fast, and now that they are older they wish they would have done whatever they were doing slower because several of them spoke of injuries of trying to much. My personal experience with this is I roller skate and one day I fell and did the splits, and I'm not going to lie it hurt for about 2 days after minorly; although I stretch almost everyday when I first wake up, and the reason being is lil Kristin once told me “you’re going to be an old stiff man, So as I slowly began to stretch and add new I first felt my muscles have emotional releases because I didn’t stretch ever prior to this. I noticed I couldn’t stretch fast as it would hurt too much, believe it or not trying to do too much too soon is why most people get injured; you go to a yoga class with your friends who've been going to yoga and what happens? The next day you’re convinced you pulled a muscle trying to prove that hey no look I really am flexible. The point I'm getting at is good things take time, and there are times where less truly is doing more with your body. As I said earlier, we as people in our society today want to move fairly fast even in our decisions, it’s led to sports even becoming faster, so i started paying attention to sports and how they have changed over time, specifically basketball. I grew up around soccer players so i’d watch the games from time to time and would notice that sometimes these dude would drop like flies, and they would go through muscle tears all the time; leading to me looking at first the derrick rose injury, then next to the amount of Ligament tears has begun to take place in our basketball league today. You take this kid who is 6’9-6’10 who has gone through immense body changes, to go on the floor run, jump and shoot all over this court; then one day everything speeds because your elevation in competition is followed by everything becoming faster in another level of competition after that. The average basketball possession in 1997 was 15.7 seconds and we see up until about 2013 the average time of possession was in inbetween 15.7-15.5 seconds per possession, we see 3 years after that in 2016 the Average time of possession is 14.9 seconds and has since gone down even more to 14.2 seconds per possession. Did I lose the non basketball people are or yall still there? Well if you are, as you notice after the derrick rose Medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear, ligament tears have become a lot more common. Look, is there anything that’s going to keep you from getting injured? Obviously not but what I will tell you if these same people who suffered these injuries trained first slow and focused on form and technique. Many of your muscles even when you do strength training, need to be isolated, and as you slow the work out down as I said earlier and focus more on your form, meditation is basically rehabilitation for your muscles. Alright so you go to the physical therapist they give you a couple workouts with some light weights you go home, my instructor Kelly Martin spoke of her time when she trained UFC fighters and they were super strong guys, but she said when they would work with small weights doing form training they would struggle. You take that same logic in developing strength for your muscles, your ligaments and tendons will be stronger because they are being engaged constantly and being flexed, the more you use the stronger the mind and body become. If a kid has growth spurt and grows an extensive amount, some of them are clumsy, because the mind and body aren’t connected yet, it’s like trying to parallel park in LA with a car you have no idea the length of, it’s going to take a second. That being said if these same kids go through all the motions their body goes through such as bending fingers, elbows, your knees, you get my point you get new hardware it’s going to take a second before you just use it. It’s the story of the Tortoise and the hare, as it may seem one way, the one who actually takes a little more time developing is going to better off; because though they are not on your timeline, when they do finally get to where their going they know they will do great, because they know where they have gone.
Take Your Time
Time doesn’t exist so let things come to you as they will, be kind to yourself and love yourself, even if none of this works for you, remember on your journey to find what works for you, everything won’t be textbook and that you will fail along the way. Always remember to read your failure because they’re always redirecting you to the right path. Thank you for reading and please be safe and kill it in life.
