DAY 3: COVID-19 BY MY LONESOME
Chronicles of an empty-nester, sheltering in place with just her mind, and her dog.

DAY 3
Much better day today! Yay! Ironically, it's raining and gloomy outside. In fact, it was quite a productive day. After polishing off the leftover pizza for breakfast, I was fast at it on my computer getting things done. Our team even enjoyed a Teams butt-dial from our boss. While we all chatted, a coworker messaged him to apologize for not picking up the group call. To which he said, "didn't know I made the call!" It was nice to hear everyone's voices.
Ooooo, forgot to tell you about my elbow-bump goodbye coworker's experience at Target yesterday! The store opened at 7 am, and he was the 3rd inline because he had run out of TP. So the manager comes out and lets everyone know they can have 1 package of TP only, and that there are not any packages of wipes or hand sanitizer. He proceeds to tell everyone (there were about 150 ppl inline) that they are to walk, not run, when in the store. The doors open, and my coworker starts walking when he sees people starting to run to the TP. He picks up his pace, without running, when a middle-aged woman puts her leg and arm in front of him, grabs his back, and tackles him to the floor!!!!! Can you believe that???? She proceeds to get 4 packages of TP and she, and my coworker, happen to be in the checkout line (not the same one, thank God) at the same time. She starts making an incredible fuss when she is told she can only have 1 pkg of TP, yelling loudly about capitalism, etc. The manager approaches and tells her she can have 1 pkg or none. She continues to make a scene. The manager tells her that the decision has now been made for her, and to get out of his store. Police end up having to come in to remove her from the store. COVID-19 is nuts people. My coworker wasn't hurt and gained a great story to tell. I do hope the woman, whatever her issue is, finds some relief. And I may have left out a few expletives!*!*!* in this story!
On to other news, we solved college son's dilemma, and he is going to socially isolate at his apartment in Austin, despite rising cases there. I promised him I would.....drum roll.....order him food via Amazon, so that he, too, can get 3 cans of soup in a big box. I felt much better after the conversation with him! I think. He's always been that kid that didn't want to miss out on anything, so I hope he can stick to it! And if not, I'll just drive my ass t here and sit on him! Ugh.
I do know one thing. I need to write down my daily schedule and stick to it, and it MUST include some form of exercise beyond going for walks. I was super motivated to exercise during my lunch hour today. Pulled out an old, may 1980's, exercise video, and popped it in the BlueRay and voila! Can't find the remote!! It's an older BlueRay (yet another trend, mature) and does not have the play, fast-forward, etc. buttons on the machine. Searched high and low for the remote (which was quite easy because I have all of the electronics nicely sorted, haha), no luck. So, on to my Amazon app, I went. One Phillips BlueRay remote control, arriving Monday! Does that mean I can eat my second frozen pizza before then? I also threw in an order for Panadol (England's and Australia's version of Tylenol, also made with acetaminophen). I ordered because there was no Tylenol available, now that everyone knows Ibuprofen suppresses the immune system. Score on the Panadol! I feel like I'm becoming a regular clinic here with all my goodies. For the record, I did offer to share my limited items with my coworkers.
Speaking of Amazon, again, I got another package today! A 12 pack of individual bottles of aloe vera juice with honey. I have a tough time drinking water. I hate it. So I got turned on to this aloe vera juice and, hallelujah, maybe now my lab results that indicate slight dehydration will go UP! Also tossed in my Amazon box was my Meaningful Beauty. I need to keep on using my beauty products, even if I am in sweats and haven't showered (oops, slept in yesterday's sweats, and still have them on at 7:11 pm). I did brush my teeth! Yay me? Anyway, the beauty lotion was slightly hidden in the big box under all of that plastic protection packaging (the kind you pop). Good thing I saw it! I nabbed that lotion and finished my Amazon package #disinfectant dance.
Wyatt has decided that he has clearly never lived without me working from home. I sat next to him, instead of in my recliner, and he slammed his paw down so hard on the couch to get me to pet him (I already WAS). I guess this is an improvement to this past weekend, where I sat down next to him, and after about 30 seconds, he got off the couch and slumped down on the floor. Fine then. Be that way. He really is the sweetest, most loving old man ever. Don't let his little temporary attitude throw you off. I'm really not sure what was wrong with me at the moment and why he didn't want to cuddle. I don't think I was stinky or anything. Promise!
Tonight was just as impressive as today! I FaceTime'd with my granddaughter on her birthday. Giving luv luvs to her and my younger grandbaby brings me such joy! I will admit, I think I may have looked a little scary from their view. That didn't seem to stop all of the stories being told to "Mimi," though (because that is way cooler than Grandma!). I made myself a healthy supper (no pizza) and laughed soooooo hard at auto-correct texts on Facebook. I wouldn't be surprised if my neighbors heard my cackling. I could hardly read each text from tears rolling down my face. I made the post on Facebook page public if you want to check it out. Chrisie Jennings.
More laughter came as I talked to one of my best friends in Texas. She's one of those that has a loud, infectious laugh. Today was a good day, indeed. Tonight's show? Gray's Anatomy! And here's hoping to a long shower in the morning!!! Be good! And if you can't be good, be careful!
