2021 New Years Wellness Plan and Execution

If 2020 taught me nothing it taught me to cherish every moment and to be in a constant state of humbleness and gratitude. The past year had many surprises and it brought about change I may not have wanted or desired. I committed myself to try and learn something new, grow and help others in some small to be a blessing to others by serving in my own way.

I must confess that I had a glimpse into the future without really knowing what was in store. In September of 2019 I broke my leg in two places and had to be on complete bed rest and/or no weigh on leg. Some would say what’s the big deal just use the crutches. Well my bedroom is upstairs and I already had problems getting up and down the stairs before the accident and have a broken leg just exacerbated the problem and put me at the mercy of my son and his wife. I hated this but I had to humbled myself and let them help me but as sure as the Sun rises the help did not last long. I will touch on why I chose the following checkpoints of Wellness and my plans to transform my life and perhaps bring some others along on my exploration to a new and improved way of living and thriving life during and beyond COVID-19.

Thriving Health

I plan is to change my eating habits for which I actually started in mid 2020 by cutting sugar by 90% and salt by 95%. I already see the benefits of this simple change with increase intake of water. I have lost five pounds and it took only 7 days.

I executed this phase of my transformation by not adding table salt to anything. No dessert except for jello twice a week or dark chocolate. Drastically reducing processed foods. Once a week cheat meal then back on the horse.

Mind Body Soul

Positive thinking and affirmations daily. This is executed everyday by a notification on my phone daily with a positive word of the day.

Exercise everyday with 30 minutes of movement and work myself up to 120 minutes. This can be achieved by stretching while watching TV, walking, freestyle dancing, taking the stairs and having safe sex are a few proven ways to stay active.

How will this task be executed simple by my self motivation of not buying any larger sizes, set goals such as eliminating or reducing meds milligram doses and Abs like Janet Jackson or Halle Berry.

My Soul is the most precious and if this is feed then the rest will follow. It is important to me that I am happy, peaceful, joyful, growing and living as my true self.

This is a task that will be conquered by daily prayer, motivational speakers, lots of laughter and not being so guarded. I have a fear of making a huge mistake with my life and ultimately changing the course of it for the worse so I have to do as my granddaughter of four years old at the time told me to at least try. If it doesn’t work then it doesn’t work. But No Regrets.

Change while Being Unique

Change is so good for the you. I know it’s so comfortable and easy to stay status quo but if you want to move then change is inevitable and a requirement to move forward and grow. This is the time to Do it in your own unique way. Embrace what makes you different

Change does not have to be huge. Small changes can significantly improve your outlook and broaden your mind and create new experiences that will add value to your life. I remember when I was a small child that the school would offer field trips to the Arts a few times a year and I would run home and ask my mother if she would sign the permission slip so I could go. She always would and give me a give a few dollars for refreshments. I got to see the Nutcracker, Ballets, Ice Skating, Orchestras play and Plays like Annie. It was such a Special time because my mother encouraged me to be who I was and not be ashamed. You see a lot of times the bus would only have a hand full of children to actually participate because other children did not embrace the Arts or only went to escape the classroom but not me. I would get lost in the wonderment of someone sing so angelic or a actor engaging the audience so effortlessly. I was captivated but I had no one to share it with because no one else enjoyed those things as I did except my mother and she would be too busy caring for the other children to really listen about my experience but I will be forever grateful that she allowed me the experience.

These changes can be as simple as the following:

Read a book on your favorite subject

Join a Discussion Group or Create One

Do a DIY Project

Create a outdoor living space

Paint a Room

Plant food

Try a new Recipe - Make a Cake or Lasagna

Try a new Restaurant

A new Hobby like Fishing or Playing Tennis

Travel if it’s within your State lines

Call a long lost Relative or Friend

Volunteer or Donate to a charitable organization or good cause effort.

Lastly, I would say that we have to be our true self and travel to the beat of there own drum for total wellness. For this a lesson I am still learning. I am not where I want to be but I am better than what I was and getting better everyday.

Appreciate the Sun and revel in it because Rain will come but with Grace Wisdom Faith Trust Discipline Consistency and Love. When the Rain comes have a umbrella and to see the message of it all. Thriving Total Wellness can be obtained.

“To thy own self be true”.
