It was a Beautiful Hot Day in Atlanta and Cassie was feeling great and Cassie wanted to get out and steer something up. Cassie called her trusted girlfriend Tammy and asked if she wanted to go out and grab a drink and a bite to eat.
Cassie traveled to Tammy’s residence and picked her up and our conversations are always deep and intense. There life paths have several similarities. They were both are single never married, business owners, grown kids and over 40 years old.
Cassie was interested to know about Tammy’s love life. Cassie asked Tammy how were things going with your Love Life? Tammy explained that there was nothing promising but she had gone out a few times. Tammy shakes her head and says the things men come up with or lack there of and expect you to sleep with them or take you out one time and think we are in a relationship. I do not have time for the craziness said Tammy. Cassie responded I feel that. Men are stuck on stupid and I am not the one.
While the conversation was light in retrospect the reality is that the lives have been shook to it core with the loss of Cassie’s home and Tammy’s unexpected pregnancy and loss. I know that these things happen every day to people all over the country but when it comes like a thief in the night and attacks with such viciousness and consistency it seems. Well you try to find the silver lining in life and grab happiness where and when you can. This was Cassie purpose in orchestrating this outing.
As the Ladies pull up to Mexican Restaurant they check themselves in the mirror as they are always on Ready for Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now. As Cassie pulls up her visor to exit the car she spotted an Owl on a ledge over a back door of the Business next to the Mexican Restaurant.Cassie told Tammy to look at that Owl. Cassie asked Tammy if it was real. Tammy said it looks real. It’s real Tammy said. For Cassie had never seen a real live Owl before and thought what could this mean. This was odd as Cassie had only seen an Owl on TV and that famous commercial with the Owl.?Cassie does not believe things just happen and all things have a purpose. Seeing this Owl meant something but what this racks Cassie mind as to think that is there more trouble around the corner or a breakthrough of happiness peace and joy and Cassie knew it was significant but what, only time can tell.
The Owl in mentioned in the Bible a few times but the scriptures that stood out to Cassie the most was Psalms 102:1-6.
• Loneliness - Psalms 102:6 “I am like an owl in the desert, like a lonely owl in a far-off wilderness.” (NLT)
• Desolate and ruined cities - Isaiah 34:11-15; Jeremiah 50:39.
Cassie and Tammy would have no idea what was in store as Cassie was much more concerned than Tammy. Tammy said not to worry about it. Pray and live our lives as best we can. Cassie relaxed and drunk her beer and ate her fajitas. Cassie and Tammy ate, laughed and talked about their lives, hopes and dreams. A good time had by all.
Upon leaving the Owl was still there. This was indeed disturbing to Cassie but I pushed it to the back of my mind and did not say anything about it to Tammy as to not ruin the good vibes. A time that will be remembered fondly and a lesson to enjoy the moment for we know not what tomorrow brings.
This was 2019 and 2020 spoke volumes and the rest is self evident.
