The new year is the perfect time to adopt healthier habits. Here are 12 transformative things you should consider adding to your daily routine to improve your overall well-being in 2025:

1. Reading

Boost your mental health and expand your knowledge by dedicating time to reading each day. Whether it's fiction to escape, non-fiction to learn or even the Bible to gather mental strength, studies show that reading can reduce stress, improve focus, and even delay cognitive decline.

2. Meditating

Mindfulness and meditation are game-changers for managing stress and promoting mental clarity. Start with just five minutes a day and work your way up. Apps like Calm or Headspace can guide you through.

3. Believing

Faith — whether in yourself, a higher power, or your goals — has been linked to greater resilience and emotional well-being. Cultivating belief creates a sense of purpose and hope.

4. Stretching

Incorporate daily stretching to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension. Stretching is especially important if you have a sedentary lifestyle or spend hours at a desk, and it will give you the chance to stay fit even when you're older.

5. Eating Properly

Focus on a balanced diet rich in whole foods, lean proteins, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Avoid ultra-processed foods and stay hydrated to maintain energy and prevent chronic illnesses. If you stop eating processed food, and introduce whole food to your diet, in just one week you'll feel like a completely different person who gained strength and happiness from just changing your diet! :)

6. Going to Sleep Before Midnight

Sleep is the cornerstone of health. It is proven that sleep before midnight is the quality sleep our body needs the most to relax and prepare for the next day. Aim to go to bed before midnight to align with your body’s natural circadian rhythm, ensuring better rest and improved mental clarity.

7. See the World Positively

Optimism isn’t just about feeling good — it’s about staying healthy. Studies show that a positive outlook can lower stress and even boost immune function.

8. Going on Walks

Walking is one of the easiest ways to stay active. Just 30 minutes a day can reduce your risk of heart disease, improve mood, and help with weight management.

9. Spending Time in Nature

And I'll say again. Step outside! Being in nature lowers stress levels, boosts your mood, and even enhances creativity. Try a park, forest, or beach getaway for a mental reset.

10. Minimize Your Screentime

Too much screen time can lead to digital fatigue, eye strain, and disrupted sleep patterns. Implement tech-free hours or zones in your home to reclaim focus and relaxation.

11. Cooking

Preparing your own meals gives you control over ingredients and fosters mindfulness. Plus, cooking is a rewarding skill that can bring joy and creativity to your daily routine. There's no such thing as a terrible cook! Practice makes it perfect. :)

12. Hiking

Take your outdoor time to the next level by hiking. It’s an excellent workout, and the immersive natural experience can be therapeutic for both body and soul.

Excellent advice, I think I've tried them all although not all have become a daily habit. Minimizing screen time is the hardest thing for me.
