What do we need to do with a career goal?
If you are one of those people who year after year sets goals and objectives, but never achieves them, or falls short of the road, this information will help you.
According to a study, only 8% of people meet their career goal before the end of the year in other words if you find yourself among the 92% of those who, for various reasons, fail to fulfill what they propose.
Do you want to find out where you have gone wrong or where you have fallen in the previous years? Would you like to make your goals stop being weight and become a motivation for this to be your year of success and professional fulfillment?
6 reasons why you will NOT meet your career goal.
If you identify with one, try to avoid it!
1. Lack of humility
Do you want to be successful in your attempt? Learn from your mistakes! To grow professionally and as a person, there is nothing better than being humble, recognizing the failures and remedying them, and stopping throwing balls out because the fault is always on others.
The unproductive habit similarity excellence is to think that you are right 100% of the time, to think that you do not need to listen to anyone because you already have the answers, and when something fails, to stay in error instead of investigating until you find the problem, solve it. You will avoid a bad drink by maintaining an open and positive attitude towards the world around you. Expand your mind and you will see how all prospects expand at the same time.
2. Time thieves
Then there are what we could call “second-rate unproductive habits”, such as watching series without control or measure, leaving aside the pending responsibilities. Consider if it is a simple distraction or if you need to eliminate certain toxic habits to make better use of your time.
You also shouldn’t procrastinate. If you don’t know the term, it means procrastinating, leaving it all for later. This is one of the main reasons why many people fail to achieve what they have set out to do.
3. Underestimating the procedure that will lead to achievement
Here you need to trust the path you have set out to follow to reach your goal. It will surely not be easy, but you must stand your ground and not throw in the towel ahead of time.
So that this does not happen to you, try to stock up on all the necessary tools and resources so that each month you can take small steps and keep moving forward.
4. Not setting Smart goals
SMART objectives are, as the term itself suggests, intelligent since they provide you with essential elements when defining your objectives so that they are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and temporary.
SMART is an acronym in English from which 5 questions arise:
Specific: What do I want to achieve?
Measurable: How can I measure my progress?
Achievable: Is my goal commensurate with my capabilities?
Relevant: Why is this goal important to me?
Temporary: When am I going to reach this goal?
5. Don’t step out of your comfort zone
Every determination or goal to attain is a task and if you do not go out of your comfort zone, confidently you will not achieve it. So, venture into the unknown and be open to change.
In this technique, you will learn other opportunities and have alternative look at what you want to do.
6. Not having references by your side
Get inspired by those who have already walked the path you intend to travel. Surrounding yourself with influential people in your area of action is vitally important.
If you have just started and do not have that possibility, use social networks, participate in conferences, events, webinars, do mentoring, or enroll in a more specific course in your sector.
Take advantage of this opportunity to validate your career goal with great references!
