Writing is like playing an instrument. Every time a person plays an instrument they perform it in a different idiosyncratic way. It means something different to each person who plays. They may expose any emotion, trauma, vulnerability and the like while playing their piece of music. At the end of the day it is how the listener perceives it. For example when I write I have to have some personal experience show itself into my writings. Growing up different and very isolated from the world I can’t offer people street smarts. I can offer my neurotic textbook smarts and wisdom from having deep meaningful conversations. I suffer trauma from the past and am still not often exposed to the world though I have been almost moved out for three years. Nothing should hold me back.
Facing trauma and mental illness I do not want to isolate readers or alienate them. I understand full well I am not commonly read by most readers. However writing gives me escape and an outlet for my strong emotions. In short, coming across Vocal has been a very nice healing experience. Vocal has so many topics to write from, and I am merely scratching the surface of what I can bring. Vocal is that writing medium that gives voice to the voiceless. People who would have inner demons and face them alone, rather than choose to write about them in a way that is uniquely theirs. The reader too reads and whether they resonate on the topic or not is irrelevant. The reader is like the musician playing the instrument. When they read any piece whether it be poetry or fiction, Psyche, Education or a repressed Confession, they too must be vulnerable when reading it. How they resonate with it is up to them and is a unique experience.
As anybody who has joined Vocal knows, you are paid a marginal sum for every read. Some people can make an extraordinary sum via networking and social media. I have never been good with that so most of my readers are people who have known me for some time. Comments have now been added. I haven’t received many comments on my posts and have only a handful of subscribers. This of course may be due to both my content and my lack of networking. Nonetheless being paid for a source that is therapeutic to me and is a respectable hobby is a great way to feel appreciated.
2017 I tried another medium for my therapy with an end goal of hoping to touch at least one individual. I was active on YouTube. While I still post I have seen a sudden switch from content that was once held to an endearing standard to a more cheap entertainment platform. My primary focus on YouTube is mental health and living with it and coping strategies. As someone with multiple diagnoses including Complex PTSD and Schizophrenia my once hiatus on You tube’s well ran dry and I struggle to get views. This does not mean people cannot learn from my content. It is just rather a place for my talents, or lack thereof is better suited to Vocal where it is somewhat monetized and readers can add insights.
Vocal also offers people the ability to pledge or tip the writer. This can help make a hobby a bit more lucrative if the person resonated well with the content. As both a writer and reader on Vocal I am very glad to be able to see a diverse range of topics and opinions on topics both of which directly interest me and ones that pique my curiosity. If anybody wanted to check my YouTube channel it is as follows.

Once again thank all of you who read my writings and thank you Vocal for giving a voice to the otherwise voiceless.
