This Is Why You’re Not Where You Want to Be (Yet)
You’re standing on the edge of success so just … jump

You’re standing on the edge of success so just … jump
Lately, it seems no one wants to risk putting themselves out there. And if it seems you are being called out, good. If it makes you feel better, you’re not alone.
There is comfort in playing it safe, that’s for sure but there’s also pain and dissatisfaction. In fact, when surrounded by comfort, there is a desire in exploring the unknown to fill the void that leaves us frustrated. If you are reading this, I believe you already know what you want.
And since you do, you have role models you look up to. I want you to take a look at those role models and you will find that they, at some points in their lives, mustered up the courage to explore the unknown, to venture out of their comfort zone, to believe in themselves and push until they finally became the exact person they knew they could be.
My mum will say if they could do it, why can’t you?
So what’s really stopping you?
The fear that people are watching?
Yes they are. But only for a second. People are busy living their own lives, accept it or not. The truth is until you make it big, your actions (and mistakes) will be but a fleeting thought in their minds. Let that fleeting thought be the start of your adventure.
Deep inside of you, there is a yearning to be better and with that yearning comes talent. Or skills. Just to put it out there, skills are not lesser than talent because they can be learned, grown, and honed. A dedicated learner will often go farther than someone gifted but complacent.. So don’t beat yourself up about it, just focus on your growth.
But the thought of people watching you isn’t the real barrier is it?
No, it’s not. Most of the time, it’s not the world holding you back. It’s yourself. We are our own barriers.
Our thoughts limit us, our perception limits us, our actions and inactions limit us and our willpower fails us. We want the easiest route to success. The 100% proven method when in reality, there is no 100% proven method.
The people we look up to and hail didn’t find certainty.
There is a quote to ‘stop trying to optimize our way to success and take risks’. To understand that the world’s smartest minds didn’t walk on the path of certainty but instead took leaps.
Sometimes those leaps felt like jumping off a mountain.
Off the mountain of comfort into the depths of the unknown where their passion (and God) alone truly drove them.
And that’s what makes it hard. That’s what makes the foot of the cliff daunting. It tells us that to lie in its soft beds of comfort and self-fulfilment, we have to follow ourselves. Follow our hearts. Follow our dreams and be a little delusional.
Even with all our fears, we have to put ourselves out there - to free-fall into its sheets.
It’s hard work, sure, but it is rewarding work because learning to listen to yourself and putting your hands to work to bring the things you imagine to life, you are working on what you love to do and getting better at honing your craft and your skill.
And it all starts with one large leap.
Or small leaps. Baby steps if you want to put it that way (because a plunge can be daunting sometimes)
Hold my hand and let’s do it together. Don’t overthink it. You've already thought about it for hours or weeks or even years.
Do that thing you want to do
And it doesn’t have to be big. It can be little; try the hairstyle you’ve been second-guessing, post that project, share that song. If it works, amazing!
And if it doesn’t, you’ve learned something new about yourself.
I’ll make a deal with you.
You take your leap, and I’ll take mine. I’ll finally post that piece of music I’ve been too nervous to share.
Do we have a deal?
Ready, set,
Do!
See? That didn’t feel so bad now did it? Tell me what you did in the comments and let’s celebrate our wins together. Until next time.
Bye!
