REVENGE LOOK DONE RIGHT

Guide for that revenge look with classic black dress

By Ahana MitraPublished 2 years ago 4 min read
Lately I've been dressing for revenge

Makeup and touchup - the two most common phrases that have been told to a woman since (I don't know) the dawn of time it seems. By the way, it was actually invented by Egyptians in 6000 BCE. They created it as they believed makeup was next to godliness and that it appealed to the Gods. (Next time you find your bestie obsessed with a new line, drop this trivia maybe.) Knowing this might make you feel like a geek. However, it also tells us that makeup has been an integral part of our lives for a really long time.

It's not just the way it makes you look, it's also about the fact of how it makes you feel. It is more than just a makeover; its self expression. What is your mood today - sad , happy, maybe revengeful? Whatever it is, there is always a colour.

Well I am revengeful to be honest and Taylor Swift's "Reputation" is my era. (Eagerly waiting for the vault songs of Taylor's version by the way.) So how do we create that famous "Don't Blame me - Look what you made Do" Look for less than Rs.2000 bucks.

Let's list down the things we will be needing: A beautiful black dress (short one), Black boots , Golden accessories
And and and some of the best make up.

Well, having created this look just once when I had falling apart from a "situationship" I was in, I feel the revenge look best comes into play with a wide contrast of colours. Like I always say, "Nothing can overtake a good primer." So a blurry primer works the best for any skin tone alike. I had used Lakmé Absolute primer. God, it's good. It is a bit expensive than other primers out there but its blurriness actually gives a matte look to your face and is really good to work with any sort of compact on top. Its a good investment anyday. In case you are looking for a bit cheaper alternative Blue Heaven blurry Primer never fails to steal the show. It's a bit glassier in the base than matte but does the job. However, sometimes it fails to blend with other compacts alike.

Secondly, we usually happen to add foundation after primer but hold on! I am about to give you a pro-tip that will keep your makeup in place for a very long time and give you a better matte look than you expect. It's this. ADD COMPACT POWDER AFTER PRIMER. You don't have to believe me. However, try it. I came across this while I was watching youtube shorts. It is definitely a life changing hack. Well, for compact powder, I kind of prefer the ones given by Sugar. They blend with the skin well. However, an amazing cheaper alternative is Maybelline Fit Me compact powder. Its available in a wide variety to skin tones and just suits perfectly for every skin type out there.

On the third, we have the infamous foundation - important but messy as always. For this one go with Lakmé's mousse foundation. It blends with the skin really well. And of course we have Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation series. All of them are really great options. Blend well. Use a bit of concealer as needed. Go with a maybelline Concealer. Make sure its a tone lighter than the foundation. It's an important hack to keep in mind.

Then comes my favorite item - contour. I just absolutely love this product. Not only does it add various shades to the face but creates a chiseled look and if used properly it can give the illusion of high jaw bones. I happen to use Sugar's contour stick. A cheaper alternative would be Blue Heaven.

I will not go into details about the Eyeshadow Look. Smokey eyes will do the trick. smokey eye kit fits the profile. Use the glittery brown colour; it makes you feel bejeweled. Use mascara (a thick one that makes your lashes voluminous) and thick long lasting eyeliner. Make sure to get that perfect wing - it adds flames to your vindictive desires.

Now the most important thing that will put the entire look together - Lipsticks. This is a routine if done perfectly. But we don't have much time to get in details. The most safe bet is 2 different shades of brown - chocolate brown & light brown. If one is glittery it really does a great jot. Faces Canada has an amazing shade to suit your needs. And ofcourse a bit of lip glitters would accentuate your look. In case you do not have it, that's fine too.

Last but not the least, using highlighters is a must. Let the world know, you can make the whole place shimmer. You could always go for a combo kit of blushes, highlighter and bronzer. There is Swiss beauty.

Then put on your best revenge gown and those high boots. You are good to go love. Rock the world. Remember- revenge is best when served hot!!!!!
