How to find a hobby 101

Stop the boredom train

Hobbies is one word uyou might often hear if you ever mention boredom. and when they tell you to find a hobby. Well you feel like you have hit a veritable wall of confustion. No surprise there, becasue there is so many different hobbies and type of hobbies. its near impossible to find one that suites you. and starting can become so overwhelming tat you just dont want to start. but i have good news for you. You are not alone in this. heck, a lot of people even famous ones started multiple thing before they found their niche or the thing that makes their heart sing. 

we all have hobbies wether we realixe it or not. i have learned that hobbies are to general of a term. i prefer to think of them as talents. because we all have different ones and wether or not we get paid for it is well, up to us. not that everything has to deal with money. Time can be our currency, or the simple act of watching others enjoy what we out together. it all depend again on the person. 

Shows that can help

I follow a really cool show hat is along this line. its called all around champion on byu tv. and it follows a group of ten kids who particpate in a wide variety of activities or hobbies. and each week one of them takes a turn teaching the others thier sport and why they love it. one thing i love about this show is it show what happens when you step out of your comfort zone. and when you are in comfort zone what you can teach others. its shows like this that make me have hope in humanity. because these kids are basically learning and growing despite the caos that is given to them on a daily basis. they are resilient i will tell you that much.

another ont i fell in love with is called forged in fire. which follows various smiths make a lot of knives. most of them i had never heard ofl and the best part of the whold thing was learning the history of the knibes. and what various cultures used them for.

Asking others really helps

The best way i have found in my journey to discovering my talent was very simple. I asked those around me what they did for fun. I find it funny and awesome that whenever you ask them about a passions of theirs, they goon for hours.  they light up and just go on avbout thigs that excite them. that is what a hobby does for you. it gives you a passion for life.

Its really a trial and test kind of thing. you never know what is your thing. until you try it all. for example my mother in law is into horses. Mostly dressage, and it fits perfectly. for her she jsut seems to shine when she is learning about it or practicing. actually when she i on horseback doing anything it seems like the world pauses for her. to see her focused on her horse is actually breathtaking. When i first saw her I remember thinking that she is where she belongs. it was just magical to watch. it actually has inspired a few poems and drawings.

My father in law its creating. wheather its his knives or guns. he just loves to talk about the different kinds. the best part is that he is making it into a business. you can check him out at (business information). He makes wonderful knives, my husband and i even have some. and i can tell you as someone who has never had one before. they are magnificent, i actually dont want to touch them. which is why they are on display on our mantle place. honestly though, they are the best things to ever have. for decorating or use.

Discover your hobby

What is dials down too is discovering your hobby all depends on you and waht stricks your intreset. you could be interested in yarn, fabric and designs. so maybe embroidery, or sewing is you. or there is puzzles, games of any variety, board, videog or other wise.  honestly there is such a wide variety that i could list them for hours. heck it would take a lot of posts.  just to cover half of them all. suffice it to say, i will list them as much as i can in a post later on. just to be helpful. A easy way to figure out what strikes your interest is to ask one question. If money was not a worry, what would i want to do?

Discover yourself

the thing i love most about hobbies is that it allows you to discover yourself. by that I mean it gives you the freedom to express yourself in a way that is natural. its one of the reasons why i love writing and blogging so much. because without it, well i wouldnt be where i am at now. 

for now, all i can say is to think about what you would do in your free time. if you have it that is. but sometimes it is worth finding out, or esle you go crazy. trust me the hospitals ar full enough of those people.

Making a money maker

There are many ways to make money with your hobbies. theres selling them, teaching others how to do your hobby. of course don't get greedy, thinking that you will be a millionare as soon as possible. Honey, i can tell you right now. you are barking up the wrong tree with that one. truthfully, as with anything in life. it takes time, lots and lots of time. for example, most authors dont even start earning money from their books until months after they publish. 

the thing i love about hobbies is that there isnt jsut one. and that you can tayor it to your individual tastes. which is what i love about observing it all. true some hobbies are rule bound, or can only be done a certain way. but the beauty of that is once you have completed the step required you can make it unique.
