Sugar-Free Desserts Are Usually Rich In Protein

Ice cream, which is often high in calories, is a common dessert people look to replace with a sugar-free alternative. However, it’s important to buy the right kind. Many ice creams claim to be sugar-free, but still contain a large amount of dairy. If you’re lactose intolerant, the amount of sugar in this type of ice cream will far exceed the amount found in regular ice cream.
Similarly, many popular protein-rich desserts like protein bars and chocolate protein cookies are sugar-free, providing an alternative to the sugar-filled snacks many people eat after a workout.
Artificial Sweeteners Are Generally Safe To Eat
The most commonly used artificial sweeteners are saccharin, aspartame, stevia, and sucralose. They are generally safe to consume and have been deemed safe by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and health organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO). However, this doesn’t mean they are complete without risk. Regularly consuming large amounts of artificial sweeteners (especially in diet sodas) has been linked to weight gain, pre-cancerous changes in the colon, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
