National Nutrition Month is observed every March in the United States, created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) to be aware of the food choices and developing healthy eating habits.

We all are too busy with our hectic life schedule & and not even thinking about ourselves like what we eat all day?, is it good, is it bad for health and what are the consequences of it? That’s why National Nutrition Month is crucial to inform all the people of America about food & healthy habits.

Also the 2025 theme of National Nutrition Month is “Food Connect US”. So, share the blog among the communities & start your healthy food habits from today!

In today’s world, fast food & processed foods are used too much all over the world without thinking about what is going to impact on our life, our body hence nutrition month can also help to change our food habits! We always eat whatever we love and neglect the right food that our body needs.

We are not saying all junk foods are bad but in the right portion of all food can make a real difference & fitness enthusiasts can achieve their desired shape! Whether they are looking to lose weight or gain muscle. Right proportion of carbs, fats, minerals & protein are very vital to function our body and mine in the right manner.

Here are some details about the nutrient & from where we can get it!

Protein | Essential for Building Block

Protein is one of the three macronutrients that are vital for overall health, along with carbs & fats. It can be easily found in foods like meat, fish, eggs & dairy items.

Protein serves a multitude of important functions like building and repairing tissues, muscle growth, recovery etc. It also works to create enzymes, hormones, metabolism & immune functions.

Usually people forget while weight loss that adequate intake of protein is very important for maintaining overall health and well-being. They cut the protein for the calorie deficit but it is not good for your health. Weight loss journey tests patience and here you need a food scale to track nutrition in the right proportion!

Carbohydrates:

Carbs, one of the main sources of body’s energy. Whole grains, fruits & green vegetables can be the best choice for carbohydrates! Here, people have to understand the importance of choosing healthier carbs rather than processed carbs. Processed carbs can gain lots of weight, for example white bready, sugary snacks, pastries & cold drinks are the items that consist of processed carbs!

Excess sugar is stored as fat in the body, leading to increased fat storage, particularly in the abdominal area. Refined carbs also can spike the blood sugar that can leave you feeling tired, irritable or lethargic! Over time, these fluctuations may contribute to insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes.

Vitamin D for bone health. Body can produce Vitamin D when exposed to sunlight, but it is also important to gain it from the food sources as well. It can be found primarily in fatty fish, egg yolks, mushrooms, cheese, tofu etc.

Incorporating a variety of these foods into your diet will help ensure you're getting the nutrients necessary for healthy skin, strong immunity, and optimal bone health.

We can gain calcium from dairy products, tofu, chia seeds, leaf green vegetables etc. Calcium is vital for strong bones and teeth. It also plays a role in muscle function, nerve signalling, and heart health.

Potassium can be found in bananas, beans, sweet potatoes, potatoes, yogurt & more. It is good for the heart functions, fluid balance in the body & also helps in maintaining lower blood pressure!

Best sources of irons are red meat, quinoa, nuts and seeds and more. It is good for the production of haemoglobin in red blood cells, which helps carry oxygen throughout the body. It also plays a role in energy metabolism.

Now let’s talk about magnesium. It is very crucial for muscle relaxation and also helps your sleeping quality. Currently, in a fast paced world it is very necessary to get a good quality of sleep & here magnesium can be a game changer! Whole grains, avocados, and dark chocolates are the primary sources to gain magnesium in good quality!
