It seems impossible in this quarantine to be able to leave the house and your body fresh without going outside, but there are many original and homemade ways to do it. It may seem peculiar, but it works!

1- Change the decoration of the place

It may seem a little strange, but the decoration also influences a lot the thermal sensation of an environment. The fewer objects scattered around the house, the less heat will be trapped in the environment. For the place to be ventilated, leave the space free for the air to circulate and not be absorbed by armchairs, tables, puffs and everything else.

2- Grow plants indoors

Plants bring several benefits to space, and growing them indoors is an extremely efficient method to lower the temperature. If your problem is space, you can always opt for vertical gardens, as they keep the house cool in it, and still occupy as little space as possible.

3- Get rid of carpets and everything that is “fluffy” material

Thick rugs, plush blankets and velvet pillows are some of the decorative elements that should not be part of your living room or bedroom in the summer. And all this because these “cute” materials absorb a lot of heat.

Leave the floor of the house free of carpets or opt for the thinner models. If your sofa is made of a “warm” fabric, such as velvet or leather, line it with a light fabric. The same goes for the rest of the room or room: give way to light fabrics and natural fibers.

4- Prepare a corner to relax

Create a shaded area and semi-opaque curtains that can be adjusted to let in some light and prevent some heat from entering. Use LED lighting, which does not generate heat, as a reading light.

5- Prepare a revitalizing spray

Hydrate your skin while working on the computer or writing at the desk. It's very simple, fill a vaporizer with slices of cucumber and ice water and spray your face and neck whenever your skin needs a stimulus. Use a vaporizer with adjustable water pressure to spray smoothly and evenly.

6- Keeping the house clean and smelling

Add a few drops of essential oil to the filter on your vacuum cleaner. Choose a purifying essential oil, such as lavender, eucalyptus or lemon. As you inhale, the aroma of the oil is released into the air and detoxifies, leaving your home with a wonderful smell!

If it is sensitive to smells, baking soda works as a great non-toxic air purifier for people with asthma, for example. This domestic technique helps to absorb odors without leaving a fragrance of its own.

For a similar effect, place a shallow bowl of white vinegar in the room overnight. It must absorb offensive odors in the same way as baking soda. When you wake up in the morning you will have a clean smelling space.

7- Not everything in summer can have sun

Invest in blackout curtains. Blackout curtains block sunlight, naturally insulating the rooms in which they are installed.

8- Emitting a fake sea breeze

Fill a bowl with ice (or something equally cold, such as an ice pack) and position it in front of a fan, so that the air leaves the ice in an extremely cold and misty state. It's magic.

9- When sleeping

Change your sheets. The seasonal change of bedding not only refreshes a room, but is also a great way to cool off. While fabrics such as flannel sheets and wool blankets are fantastic for insulation, cotton is a smarter move this time of year, as it breathes more easily and gets colder. If you don't want to change, why not freeze your sheets and pajamas?

10- As an additional item, buy or make a buckwheat cushion. As buckwheat hulls have a natural air space between them, they do not retain body heat like conventional pillows, even when closed in a pillowcase.

11- You can also sleep in low places. The heat increases, so stay on the sofa or place your mattress on the floor. It will be like camping!

12- Use your hot spots

Areas located on the wrists, neck, elbows, ankles, behind the knees, feet and groin area are the hottest points on the body. Therefore, place an ice pack or damp cloth in any of these areas to help lower your body temperature and stay cooler.

13- Bamboo mattress.

A bamboo mat is less comfortable than your mattress. But you should also remember that it can't stand the heat like a thick cotton mattress.

14- Give a secondary use

Cool the entire room by hanging a wet sheet in front of an open window. The breeze will quickly reduce the temperature in the room.

15- Bottles

Freeze a hot water bottle and sleep with it!

16- Rice

If you need a way to cool off and don't have an ice pack or hot water bottle, don't worry because it is quite easy and practical to create your own. Put rice of any kind in a half and put it in the freezer for an hour. Once frozen, you'll have a great pack of homemade ice.
