The Evolution of Vocal Media
How Vocal Media has evolved over the years
Vocal media has certainly evolved over the years. It is now a much larger and wholesome community than I ever thought. The idea first sparked when I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, and I kept seeing advertisement after advertisement. During this time in my life, I was in the midst of completing my English degree and I was feeling frustrated that all I could do was writing essay after essay explaining why I thought my point of view was correct and why Canadian Long Poem was important to explore. I still don't know the answer to that one, but the class was taught by one of my favorite professors. I needed a different outlet to write about something other than Chaucer. I googled vocal media to make sure it was not some sort of scam website and as luck would have it, Vocal media is in fact a legitimate site as you can probably tell from this story. The reason why Love vocal media is because they have everything categorized, so you can really focus into a niche and explore all sorts of topics. My first story was titled "Top Ten Disney Villains Based on Success" see below:
It was published six years ago and it's still my top read article because when I google it, it is one of the first searches that pop up. I've had about 17,986 reads to this day. After I saw that I did in fact make some money from this post, I thought this was a great motivation to write more and evolve more as a writer and not just an essay writer.
Then, I continued to write articles about my travels and what to expect when travelling to Europe or other countries. I wrote a few such as the one below, but they were not big hits.
I found over time I got better in my writing, so this was a great way to improve my writing and then when my oldest sister was getting married it was on the featured page on vocal, I was so ecstatic:
Then vocal media had introduced Found member vocal media + membership, where I can now pay to get an earlier payout for myself. This really got me going to write even more, I would not say that my content was better, but I wrote a few winners, such as the one below as it spoke to many audience members:
I was glad I was not alone in this journey of being a woman and the monthly struggles I have had. Then, vocal media had introduced sharing to your social media platforms to grow an audience. I would always just email these articles to my parents anytime I had the chance, so they would give me input. Sometimes, they would be a little too honest about my writing, but I was always good at taking criticism. Later, vocal media started to introduce challenges, which came in the right time because I did go silent for a while, simply because I could not think of any interesting topics to write about, and I had fun with some of the challenges such as the writing about a story that takes place in 60 seconds. I loved writing this:
Vocal media had introduced quick edit, which is a good thing too, because I sometimes go back and re-read some of my writings and then I was spotting mistakes and spelling errors, which I felt guilty for not noticing earlier. I started to go back and edit some stories here and there, but I was more diligent in my writing where I do not feel like I have to go back as often. The challenges make think outside the box and really come up with original ideas and that's where I find other writers that maybe have similar writing to me. Then, Vocal media had introduced subscriptions where you can keep track of all your favorite writers to make sure you don't miss a story that they publish. Plus, it helps grow an audience and someone is bound to read something that you publish. I think it was around this time that Vocal Media had also introduced the app to make it more accessible, so you are not constantly clicking the link in your email notifying you that your favorite author wrote something. Instead, with a swipe you can find everything you want on the app.
I think Vocal Media has a positive effect on my writing because I've certainly grown with vocal media as a writer and blogger. I am excited for whatever Vocal Media brings to me next.
