Need For Vulnerability
Five years ago I had the pleasure to meet and gain a new friend. She was an emergency room nurse at the time and was writing a paper to be published so she could register as a nurse practitioner. We went to the same gym as at the time I lived in the south side of the city. She learnt that one of my hobbies was writing and read some of my work. She said I had talent and asked if I could read her paper. Her paper was about the need for vulnerability as an ER nurse. The paper states that being vulnerable prevents burn out and is needed in professions to keep humility and honesty within oneself while also helping others.

Harold and Maude
Harold and Maude, directed by Hal Ashby, is a grim yet mildly humorous black comedy about a suicidal young man, Harold (Bud Cort) who seems to suffer the ill effects of a schizoid personality disorder. Harold's flat, lifeless, emotionless demeanor is offset by his dark obsession with death, his bizarre, faked "suicides" (it is never quite explained how he manages to do this, but we must assume since he continually "kills himself" in front of his mother, who maintains a blase attitude about it, that he is either daydreaming or using some special effects props), and the fact that he attends funerals for pleasure. Outwardly, he's an attractive cyborg.

Holocaust (1975)
The planned genocide of ALL the world's Jewish people by the Nazi regime during World War 2 has come to be known as "the Holocaust," which is a Greek word that derives from the concept of "destruction by fire." It began with the racist Nuremberg Laws when Hitler came to power; it ended with millions upon millions dead at concentration death and slave labor camps such as Auschwitz, Treblinka, Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, and Sobibor. Millions of beautiful, innocent, and valuable human beings were killed for no other reason than they were Jewish; other victim's groups included Roma ("Gypsies"), homosexuals, communists and socialists, the mentally or physically disabled, and members of pacifist and "uncooperative" religious groups, such as the Jehova's Witnesses. To be a dissident in Nazi Germany, or show ANY resistance to them or their plan for world domination and mass murder on an unimaginable scale, meant death.
