How to survive in a small town
All small towns are similar to each other. Their people are the same, maybe they have different names, but nothing about them is special, and yet it is. All the inhabitants of small towns despise their place, and at the same time they love it very much. The fates of small towns are often the same. The destinies of their people repeat themselves regardless of the fact that they are separated by kilometers. Living in a small town is incredibly difficult. I moved before two years. They say that all beginnings are difficult. Some beginnings are incredibly easy, but my beginning was disgusting. I came home every weekend. My people, my cafes, my streets were waiting for me there. My city was my refuge then. Over the years, those trips home became less and less frequent. The new city became the home I never had. His people were more fun and cheerful. Its streets are more beautiful, and its cafes are happier. The love for that city grew every day, and at the same time, the love for my hometown diminished. People were leaving. They didn't come back for Christmas either. All city events have never been sadder, and for the first time I had no desire to leave the apartment. And why would I go out? And why would they come back? Whom? Empty streets, empty cafes and sad lives of those who stayed there? I came home on vacation. There are no more bushes in which we hide as children, and there are no children either. The only thing that hasn't changed in the whole story is the people drinking in front of the small shop nearby. They are still there, only now there are more of them. There are more people whose heads are sticking out of the container and there are more people who pretend not to see it all. I felt like a stranger in my own city and all those advantages of single life disappeared in a few hours. I felt lost in a city where you can't get lost because it's too small, but I knew that my days shouldn't turn into lying in bed and crying for something that just can't come yet. How to survive in cities that offer nothing and take everything? In small towns there are special people who, unlike the majority, do not stand still. These people are my friends. None of them plan to stay here forever. But because of these people, the days take on more beautiful colors. These people try to create because there is no other way. In small towns, you have the choice to be the one whose fate is lived by hundreds of others just a few kilometers away, or to be someone who will make something out of nothing. A small town offers you the role of a local punk and a drunkard or the role of someone who works hard, makes progress and eventually leaves. My friends are trying to fight in a small town and sometimes they make me want to go back to my small town. When I get lost in a city where you can't get lost, I always have them to get me back on track. Call them whatever you want, but know that all small towns are remarkably similar. We all hate them with the same fervor, and we defend them with even greater fervor when someone touches them. Their streets are empty and quiet. Their fate is known in advance. Their people are the same, standing still, not going anywhere. Lost in cities where you can't get lost because they're too small.
