It's Not Always About the Grind
I’ve never prioritized rest or sleep. It’s all about the grind, as they say. You won’t get far in life if you don’t work hard, you’ll get no where in life. Sleep is for the weak, if you rest, you won’t accomplish your goals… who decided to fill our minds with such nonsense?

The JOMO of my New Year's Eve
To begin, Happy New Year, to all of us. I can tell you how my New Year's Eve was going to be. It was going to be with a woman, in Costa Rica, with fireworks, in a lush forest setting overlooking a volcano. New Years Day would be hot springs, suspension bridges, and waterfalls. However, that relationship ended some moons ago.

2021: A Reflection
I’d like to say that this year has been a rollercoaster with ups and downs but it hasn’t really. A better way to describe this year would be as a slow crescendo that has yet to end. January brought some great things but it was also the beginning of a low point for me in many ways. I gained the start to getting back my health and saving my life. I finally was able to get surgery to clear out the rest of the infection on my spine and remove my hardware. My recovery was not linear or easy and I ended up spending a good chunk of January in the hospital. I also ended up losing my job without warning or any real explanation. Losing a job is always a bit of an ego blow but it was hard because that job was going to allow me to establish real financial independence and stability. I mean this was the hope but not reality. I was barely getting on my feet after living paycheck to paycheck and making a major cross-country move. It was a hard blow and what ultimately forced me into the financial crisis I'm in now.

O Holy Night
I still remember that night. It was the week before Christmas when a bunch of cheerful lads decided to join a small choir and go carolling from house to house. The main purpose: spend some time singing, having fun and, why not, collecting some extra money. Who doesn’t think of making extra money at Christmas time?

"Nothing Is Perfect, Mistakes Are Allowed."
"Nothing Is Perfect, Mistakes Are Allowed." Maybe this is a saying that has been used many times, maybe I am the one that uses it for the first time. Anyhow, I loved this saying a lot. When I do something, I love it when everything is perfect, or at least, I strive to perfectness. Then, in a moment I realise that I am not perfect, as well as nobody is, as nothing will ever be perfect.

On Process
I have just woken up. Turning over slowly in my bed, I reach for my phone. I know that I shouldn’t. I know that it is too early. If I allowed just a moment to relieve myself of digital dogma, perhaps I would not be so captivated by the gallery of presentations before me. Perfectly curated pages, images edited to the most sublime quality, and countless likes (which I of course mistake for affirmations) surround me like a storm. They taunt me to no end until I assume that my art is not enough. Ones and zeros comprise a wasteland where our confidence goes to die, only to be replaced by temporary dopamine highs. We are trapped by an illusion and entranced by a mirage, both working in tandem with our ruthless inner critic, resulting in a feeling of inadequacy. We become rash, distrusting of our own apparatus’ and, most of all, insecure.
