Juniata Hijinks
Nobody has to set an alarm when you're seven. Something about the thrill of a day in the life of a kid that age sets the engine on autopilot. Adrenaline takes control, jumping through the central nervous system of one intrepid wanderer setting out to tackle Tuesday in the heat of his first real summer break. Nobody has to dress you any more. You laid out your Thundercats T-shirt, your faded Pirates cap and your neon biker shorts on the chair by your Nikes last night. Nobody has to make sure you eat your lunch. You just grab a banana on your way out the door with the Handi-Snak, Fruit Roll-up and triangle-cut PB & J you packed in a brown paper bag the night before. Your green Army surplus canteen with the canvas strap is already chilling in the fridge waiting for you, so all that's left to do is get your butt in gear and get out that front door. After Mama's kiss on the cheek, of course. Then it's time to make tracks as you shout, "See ya later!"

A Writer's use of Time
How do you spend your days, your work days and your holidays? This is a question we are sometimes asked in life. We may hesitate or we may just say that we went out on a short weekend break, or we had friends over or we went out to see friends or we went to a concert, the theatre, the pub, the art gallery or somewhere interesting that will make us appear interesting.

Nobel Prize in economics 2021
David David Card, a labor economist and Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics 2021 for a challenging and transformative understanding of inequality and the social and economic power that affects low-paid workers. He is known for his landmark studies from the 1990s that still apply today because they challenge existing theories about the impact of immigration on American indigenous workers and the impact of low wage growth on domestic employment. David Card, who won the award this year, is President of the American Economics Association like many other Nobel laureates.

Censorship as Protection
Thank you Vocal.media for keeping safety top of mind for all your content creators and vast and growing readership! Truly, you are a great friend of the people and so very wise and benevolent. As a creator myself, I count myself lucky to have my stories censored by you. There can be little doubt that many of the stories you rejected for objectionable graphic or religious content, would have have resulted in some very unsafe outcomes, had they been published in their original, highly unsafe form. I can barely imagine the horrors that may have unfolded if the brave censorship boards at Vocal had not caught my unsafe writings before they were recklessly published on the internet for anyone to see and use for whatever unsafe and no doubt nefarious purposes they might.
