The Evaluation
Every six months, my workplace gives each employee work evaluations that are written by the department manager. I recently passed one year in my current workplace. I work in a bakery as a bakery clerk. I do like my job because each day is different, but the work can be mind-numbing at times.

So You Want to be a Ghost Writer
I awoke one morning last spring, rolled over, turned on my cell phone, and perused my news feed. I opened a piece on stoic philosophy. A pang of panic shot through me. A bolt of electric pain somewhat akin to jealousy shot through my body. My words stood in bold staring back at my wondering eyes. My hook, for a piece I had just finished and turned in a day or two before, loomed in electronic print as the lead in to a piece in The Daily Stoic. Initially torn between pride and fury, I learned a very important lesson that day.

Being an Actor: Learning Lines
I think learning lines is the worst part of my job. The long, boring task of remembering something that the general public will forget within a second of me saying it makes you realise that linesdont need to be remembered they need to be performed. When you look at the opening line of Hamlet, it could be a throwaway line anywhere else within the play, the line in question, "who's there" but when you deconstruct that line like we are back doing our English GCSE's, those two words set up the play perfectly. That line can be deconstructed as much as "To be or not to be" in fact in performance you can almost predict how that will be said, by the actor, but that the challenge of acting sometimes, how do you stand out? Maybe that's another blog I can write about sometime. But with that very simple line you can go in so many directions.

Temporary Office Obligation
There’s no worse feeling in the world when you realize that you aren’t special. Not the kind of special that gives you an edge over everyone else, but the kind of special people delude themselves into believing to avoid the reality that they are replaceable. That’s what I figured out I am. Replaceable. There are women (and maybe men) like me who feel insecure, anxious about dealing with a world you were never prepared for, and knowing that survival often means complacency. I’m not shocked by me feeling like I’m replaceable. I’m replaceable in my job (though I hope that isn’t the case) and in my mind. The only way I know I can’t be replaced is with my family and my relationships, but even then I feel like I don’t belong in the world. It’s as if the world wasn’t made for someone like me. It’s continuing and moving on without me.
