I Failed at a Gaming Company
My name—my real name—is Iain O'Shea. You probably know me by my pen name, Patrick Lain. This isn't my usual content as in my description it says horror is my niche. I wanted to write this because before I was into trying to write all my life, I was an aspiring game developer. Keyword... was. Now, I will say I still love game development and design; it is something great and I encourage those who are interested in it to go forth and try it, but I encourage you to read this first and learn from my mistakes.

I'm Still Looking for a Job
As it is, I’m still looking for a job. Something part-time and out of the house. Preferably retail. It is possible where I live to do this. I applied at a pretzel shop at the mall, and a health foods store at the mall so far. There is a 711 in my neighborhood. I plan on applying there, if I can. Ideally, I want to be able to walk to work. I do need the extra income since I have to buy some pagan supplies like gemstones and herbs. This will eventually happen. I found a sweet insurance gig, which means that I can work very part-time and that’s okay by them.

When our parents were younger, it was so much easier to get a job. Apply yourself, get a high school diploma, get a college degree, and you were pretty much guaranteed a job. Sometimes, you didn’t even necessarily have to get a college degree in order to get a job. Back then, it was understood that being a student, you probably didn’t have much work experience, if any at all.

The Struggles of Working at a Tanning Salon
I worked in a tanning salon for about two years and I loved it. I loved the atmosphere, the knowledge of tanning and tanning products I had gained, and of course- tanning for free and those employee discounts on lotions was pretty amazing. But behind the few perks comes a lot of struggle. Working with the general public is always difficult, but you see a whole new side of people when you work behind the counter at a tanning salon.

Side Hustles
I’ve been a side-hustler since the age of 17 when I first opened my Etsy shop. Ever since then, I have tried using a number of different websites to make money on the side, and my “businesses” have gone through some major developments. I am a big believer in side hustles. For me, they are a way to make money from the comfort of my home, on my own time, and in a way that I enjoy. There are so many options out there, and like I said, I have tried a lot of them. I believe there is a side hustle (or multiple side hustles) for everyone no matter what your skills are, if you’re working part time, full time, or not working.
