Portfolio Careers
What do you want to be when you grow up was the question that my generation (1970s/80s babies) was asked. Do you want to be a teacher, doctor, firefighter, or even a dancer (By the way, I was obsessed with the TV series Fame and Debbie Allen!)?

The Bull and the Baby
My father suffered a severe spinal injury when I was only five years old. It would be almost three years before he would walk without the aid of special made shoes with big steel braces that came up to just below the knee and strapped to his leg. Even then, it wasn’t that he didn’t need them, he just refused to wear them any longer. He walked with a cane to steady himself and learned to get along very well. My father knew his limitations but never looked at himself as a cripple.

Why I Decided to Change Careers
If you asked me a year ago if I still enjoyed my current job, I would have told you "NO." For the past eight years (since April 2011), I have been an Early Childhood Educator. Since starting my career as an ECE, I have worked in three different centres. The first one was in a big centre inside of a school, the second one started out in basement suites and eventually moved into a residential commercial space. My last daycare was in a house where I worked mostly by myself.

Sales Management and Trends
Today the world is changing at such a rapid pace with continuous growth in the world of technology. There has been a huge disruption from where we were just 10 years ago. Most of my focus will be on digital marketing for the fact of Neil Rackham would be right by saying some of the sales force employees, managers, etc. would benefit more from outsourcing functions in the company. As we read in Cracking the Sales Code we find that the importance of time management and focus on metrics that can be controlled is of the most importance. Another statement that I would like to address is the point of him saying sales quantifies more revenue than marketing. To combat that, there are multiple levels of channels that need focusing. In certain industries, I can see that to be true, but to think that is in all industries, I don’t know if I would agree in the emerging markets with technology.

Edits to Make in Your Novel
All writers who have isolated themselves to vigorously typing alone know the amazing feeling you have when you finish your first draft. For some of us, this rush of success might come when finishing writing the first half of your book. It feels great executing your idea and getting every thought onto that devastating but inspiring blank page. We jump, finally step away from our computers, maybe even call those friends we haven't talked to in six months, but then we realize what we really should be doing. Yes: Editing—probably the least pleasing task for a writer. If I'm being honest, I'm probably going to be reluctant to edit this. Whether you're trying to get your book traditionally published, or thinking of going the self publishing route, editing and revisions need to be done before putting your work out there. For those of us writers who can't afford editors, this process is tiresome. Most of the time we don't even know what we're looking to change. No matter how perfect you think your first draft is, it needs work and edits, and here are some to consider. These edits and tips are directed towards fiction novels, but I'm sure they an apply to other work.
