I Saw a Drop at My Earnings But an Increase in my Self Respect
Finding meaning as a writer
Last month, I started writing about writing tips. It didn't take much time till I felt fatigued. I wrote less than 11 stories, most of them were a meaningless attempt of me to achieve more views and earnings.
So, I stopped writing.
I thought that it was writer’s block that kept me from writing.
I was wrong.
It was a wake-up call. Of who I want to become.
A wake-up call to stop imitating other’s success.
I didn’t write a single word for Medium for 10 days. In the process, I figured out ways to show the world my thoughts and my vision. Not the thoughts of others, masked as mine, only to get some claps and reads.
There was a time when I enjoyed writing about little things in life that give us perspective. Lost pieces that can be found. It’s time to shake things up and present the world with a part of me that will make them think — again.
Do Something You Love and You Won’t Stop Doing it
It was the lack of love that kept me from writing last month. I lost the will to write because I felt forced to do so.
I lost the will to find new ideas because every idea was fake. A mere attempt to copy successful writers in order to bump my views.
In the days that I didn't write, I generated dozens of ideas to write about. Ideas that will make me happy to analyze and put my heart and soul into them.
I also came up with a publication that will have me and others express themselves in a unique way. It will be created this month and I hope that you will be a part of it as well.
I wrote a story about the force that you can create by being consistent daily, but I didn't take it into consideration only until now. Now, I feel like I can become unstoppable.
There’s a Market For Meaningful Stories as Well
If you are still having doubts about writing on topics that matter the most, there are many examples of exceptional writing that aren't about writing tips and money and blah blah blah. These stories did make an impact and provided the reward that writers deserved as well.
Faith Ann
, for instance, wrote one of my favorite stories ever. She wrote about her toxic family, a really personal story that we all can find at least some relation to. A story with over 10k claps. Not a single bait title to make you click on that story. Just pure reality.
Yes, Faith, I have such faith in you that I will shamelessly share your work wherever I can. That much I like it.
I do have a lot to share on things that our parents taught us that are wrong. A morality I want to explore and I will write a lot on that, for instance.
You need some time off as well, in order to find what matters the most.
Maybe spending some time without technology will help you to achieve that.
The Happiness Loop
When I wrote this story, I didn’t get the meaning of it entirely. I focused on being happy outside my working environment — content creation. But content creation is the freest way of making a living. Why not implement my happiness in my working environment as well?
Creating content that fulfills you, makes you happy. Happiness makes you more productive and in return, you get more time to invest in yourself. Investing in yourself will make you happier as well, so more productive than ever.
The happiness loop exists to remind us we are more than producing machines with money on the back of our heads.
I figured out how we can save over 400 hours per year in order to invest in ourselves.

Final Thoughts
Starting from February, I will write about things that have meaning for me as well as for readers. After all, I’m writing to you apart from expressing my thoughts.
I encourage you to do the same and escape writing about topics that will only provide you money, but not meaning.
In the process of writing from the heart, you’ll begin realizing that it’s more than stats. It’s about sharing, caring, loving. Loving what you do will make others love what you do.
Let’s make Medium a brighter place, together.
