🌱 Grow in Grace
Key Verse:
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”
— 2 Peter 3:18
Growing in grace is not just a suggestion—it’s a command and a calling for every believer. Salvation is just the beginning. From that moment forward, God desires that we mature in our faith, develop Christ-like character, and become rooted in His truth.
1. What Does It Mean to Grow in Grace?
To grow in grace means to:
Deepen your relationship with Jesus
Live under God’s unearned favor and power
Increase in spiritual maturity
Be transformed in character by the Holy Spirit
God’s grace isn't static—it’s active, alive, and empowering. The more we walk with Him, the more His grace shapes our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:18
2. Grace Is the Foundation of Our Growth
Grace is not just for the beginning of your Christian walk—it’s the foundation and fuel for your spiritual journey.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
— Ephesians 2:8
But after salvation, grace continues to teach us and empower us to live righteously.
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions...”
— Titus 2:11–12
Just like a student grows under the guidance of a good teacher, we grow under the influence of God’s grace.
3. Growth in Grace Is Personal and Intentional
Spiritual growth doesn’t happen by accident. It involves a daily relationship with Jesus, intentional time in the Word, and submission to the Holy Spirit.
Think about a tree planted by water:
“Blessed is the one... whose delight is in the law of the Lord... That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season.”
— Psalm 1:1–3
When we position ourselves close to the "Living Water" (Jesus), our roots grow deep, and we bear fruit in due time.
4. God Gives More Grace as We Humble Ourselves
Grace increases in the lives of those who are humble and dependent on God.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
— James 4:6
Pride blocks growth, but humility opens the door for God’s work in our lives. To grow in grace, we must continually surrender and recognize our need for Him.
5. Grace Equips Us for Service
As we grow, grace doesn’t just work in us, but also through us. God gives us gifts of grace to serve others and build His kingdom.
“But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.”
— Ephesians 4:7
We grow in grace by using our spiritual gifts, walking in obedience, and reflecting the love of Christ.
6. Grace Sustains Us in Trials
Growing in grace also means learning to trust God more deeply in hard times. When Paul pleaded for his "thorn" to be removed, Jesus answered:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
Grace doesn’t always remove the struggle, but it empowers us to endure it with strength, peace, and purpose.
7. Grow in Grace and Knowledge
Notice in 2 Peter 3:18, it says to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus. You can’t grow in grace without growing in truth.
“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”
— John 17:17
Spiritual growth is nurtured by feeding on God’s Word, spending time in prayer, and obeying His voice.

Final Encouragement
Growing in grace is not about striving in your own strength—it’s about abiding in Christ and letting His life flow through you.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
— John 15:5
It’s a journey of becoming more like Jesus, step by step, day by day. May you grow in grace, rooted in love, and anchored in truth.
