Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

BJ’s This or That Galentine’s (or Francophile) Challenge

I know we’ve completed BJ’s (Medium writer) Valentimes This or That Challenge, but she has honoured us with another call from the wild.

A call to all the female energy that swirls through our society.

This one is an invite to all the Galentine’s to share in their love of the sisterhood.

My This or That answers to let you into my Queendom for a few precious minutes. Enjoy!

This or That?

1. Saturday or Sunday?

I look forward to my Saturdays every week. It’s the one day of the week that I give myself permission to sleep in, to catch up on the lost sleep that has built up throughout the working week.

Although, one sad side effect of aging is the ability to be thrust into becoming a morning person, when morning was once your arch enemy. Nowadays if I get to sleep past 5am I consider myself blessed.

Still come Saturday morning I sure do try my best to roll over and ignore the sun just a little while longer.

2. Pain Au Chocolat or Almond Croissant?

Oh, what I wouldn’t give to choose the Almond Croissant, but my body is intolerant to almonds and one little croissant would make me suffer terribly. It’s not worth cheating on so I’ll enjoy my Pain Au Chocolat instead.

3. Glass or Bottle?

Why not enjoy it all. It’s only Galentine’s Day once a year.

Girls, please pass me the bottle.

4. Skirt or Pants?

Years ago I may have taken up the offer of pants but these days with the middle age spread upon me, I no longer wear pants — oh, forgive me, I still wear the pants in this house!

But to celebrate with my gals, I’ll slip into a flowy skirt to hide the tummy and hips.

5. Coat or Jacket?

I’ve always been a sucker for a cute waist length jacket. So it’s flowy skirt and cute jacket this year.

Although I should mention it’s likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius in my world, so the jacket isn’t going to last long at all.

6. Walking or Biking?

It’s been a good twenty years since I saddled a bike and pedalled my way to fitness and lean legs. I’m sure if I tried it today I’d be snaking it down the road, zigzagging in front of cars, causing an accident.

No, not a pretty sight. Best I stretch my legs and take them on a walk.

7. Clouds or Stars?

I’m a country girl. One that prefers the back decked out pick up truck, loads of blankets and a friend or two to layback with and gaze upon the starry skies. Girl talk the music for our ears.

8. Crepes or Quiche?

I do love me a good Quiche, either hot or cold. Perfect for a night under the stars with the girls.

9. Blanket or Throw?

Anyone who knows me knows I’m allergic to the cold, so let’s deck out fully in a large blanket or two. A throw isn’t going to cut it.

10. Paper or Cloth?

Let’s have a little country class and make it a beautifully embroidered and painstakingly ironed piece of cloth.

11. Piano or Saxophone?

Music of any kind is glorious (except maybe opera) but there’s nothing more relaxing and made to set a calming mood than the tinkling of piano keys.

13. Lemon or Lavender?

Both scents are to die for but my preference will always err on the side of the citrus. I love a good lemon scent.

14. Artist or Creative?

I have to choose Creative. I’ll never have the talent to be an Artist but creativity is my middle name.

15. Pink or Blue?

Oh, I’d shower the entire world in pink if ever given the chance. It helps ward off negativity.

16. Candles or Mugs?

No real choice here as who’d say no to candles. Candles really set an entirely different mood.

17. Scarves or Sweaters?

Have I mentioned that I’m allergic to the cold? I need a cupboard full of sweaters.

18. Tidy or Messy?

I need tidy to feel all is right in my world. Fastidiously! Maybe that’s why I was given the messy hair — to help me realise messy is a part of life.

18. Cooking or Baking?

Baking is so much more fun but the hips — well we’ve already been there!

19. Flirty or Fun?

Let the fun begin. I’m a fun lover and let’s face it, everybody can be included in the fun but more care is necessary when choosing to flirt.

20. Rays of Sunshine or Twinkling Lights?

As a night owl — or I would still be if my body clock allowed — I’d much prefer the beauty of thousands upon thousands of twinkling lights. It makes it feel like Christmas every night of the year.

And there you have it. A few more of my secrets escaping into the written world.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Oh I'm so sorry that you're intolerant to almonds 🥺 My kindred spirit, though we are the same in so many ways, please don't come near me with your pinks, lol!
