The Day of Love

BJ’s This or That Valentimes (or Valentine’s) Love Challenge

Valentine’s Day is knocking on our door once more and BJ (a Medium writer) has taken the opportunity to put together another This or That Challenge; this one all about Valentine’s Day and Love.

Love is messy. It’s imperfect. Sometimes it’s downright rude — Brett Jenae Tomlin

Now, my thoughts and views in regards to each ‘This or That’ question are as follows.

1. White Chocolate or Dark Chocolate?

I’m definitely a white chocolate girl over dark chocolate. Why? I’m usually far more sweet than I am bitter (I hope).

2. Massages or Bubble Baths?

A tricky and difficult question BJ because I absolutely adore both, but for this exercise I’m going to pick massage. I can jump in a bubble bath as often as I want but a massage is that bit more special. It needs a little help from a friend.

Obviously there’s every possibility I’ll enjoy a long luxurious bubble bath after the massage anyway (tongue in cheek).

3. Romantic or Cynic?

Sorry Valentine’s Day and Lovers out there, but I’m sad to say I’m all cynic. Too experienced and been burnt far too often to believe in true love. My romance days are a thing of the far distance past.

4. Red Light or Green Light?

Absolutely red light for me. I detest, with a vehement passion, anything green — except living plants and trees. I couldn’t tell you why but green in my life, in any shape or form, is out. A huge no!

Did I mention I hate green?

5. Phones or No Phones?

If we are talking about phones on our Valentine’s Day date, I’ll choose phones. Being single means that any Valentine celebration is with me, myself and I, so phones are in.

Don’t worry, I am my best partner and I’ll have a blast on this year’s lovers day.

6. Love at First Sight or Slow Burn Love?

Love at First Sight please. Neither option is going to last all that long so let’s just jump in and enjoy the moment while we can.

7. Appetizers or Dessert?

Desserts are so much more fun when love is involved, so dessert it is.

8. Thin or Thick?

Now this question boggles the mind. What exactly are we talking about when we think this or that? A trick question BJ?

I’m going to choose thick. Why I hear you ask — because it’s a thin line between love and hate!

9. Flowers or Candy?

Oh dear, another tough question because I love both, however I can always buy my own candy any day of the year.

Actually damn it, I’m single — so I can buy my own flowers too.

Still I’ll stick to my choice and go with the flowers I’ll be buying for me, myself and I. That way I’m certain to get all my favourites.

10. Going Out or Staying In?

An easy choice — staying in. I love the freedom of rocking up to the dinner table in my sexiest nightgown and bare feet.

11. Cheese or No Cheese?

Aghast at such a suggestion of no cheese. Cheese is the ultimate icing on the cake of my main meal. Cheese is a must!

12. Music or Mood Lighting?

Music. So much can be said in between the words of a song.

Most of my relationships have had a song that was ‘ours’, not sure I could ever say the same of mood lighting.

13. Acts of Service or Words of Affirmation?

Actions speak louder than words so I’m all for acts of service.

14. Scented or Unscented?

Thankfully, as my own Valentine, I can guarantee that the scents I choose will be a soul delight. Therefore scented it is.

15. Whipped Cream or Strawberries?

The joyful moment of sharing strawberries, especially if they are coated in white chocolate, is precious.

I’m not sure I could share the same sentiment about whipped cream.

16. Online Dating or IRL?

IRL is definitely my choice. What you see is what you get. I’m risk adverse when it comes to online dating.

Online dating is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

17. Mystery or Open Book?

I adore a little bit of mystery but boy it keeps getting me into trouble, so I’m choosing open book from now on. I need to know every intimate detail and dirty secret.

18. Silk or Flannel?

The sensual feeling of silk on bare skin cannot be ignored. Flannel doesn’t quite cut it. Silk it will always be.

19. King or Queen?

As Queen of my life and Queen of my solitude, I couldn’t go wrong in choosing something that has always worked for me. I’ll always choose to be Queen.

20. Espresso or Dinner Mint?

Did I mention that I detest anything green? That goes doubly for mint because I also detest the taste. A delightful espresso is always a winner.

All in all I do love Valentine’s Day and I have to admit I do use it as an excuse to pamper myself. Well if I don’t do so, who else will?

My idea of a great Valentine’s Day self-love celebration is an in-house massage; followed by a solo bubble bath; dinner delivered to my door from my favourite restaurant, eaten while surrounded by candles and music and a nice glass or two of strawberry daiquiri; lastly a bar of white chocolate and a good book while curled up in my bed.

Ah…….the bliss!
