Flight of Firsts.

Story that takes place entirely in flight.

By mahmudaPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Emily is an adventurous and independent traveler, embarking on her first solo flight with excitement and curiosity. She eagerly explores her destination, relishing new experiences and encounters with locals and fellow travelers. Despite feeling a bittersweet sadness upon leaving, Emily feels a sense of accomplishment and inner peace as she boards her return flight home.

As the plane began to taxi down the runway, Emily could feel her heart racing with excitement. This was her first time flying alone, and she couldn't wait to see the world from above. She gazed out the window, watching as the airport grew smaller and smaller, until finally, they lifted off the ground.

The takeoff was bumpy, and Emily clutched the armrests tightly, but once they were in the air, she relaxed a little. She pulled out her book and began to read, but her mind kept wandering back to the adventure that lay ahead.

As the hours passed, Emily grew restless. She had never been good at sitting still for long periods of time, and the cramped airplane seat was starting to take its toll. She stood up and stretched her legs, walking down the aisle to the back of the plane and back again. She exchanged a smile with the flight attendant as she passed by, but otherwise, the cabin was quiet.

Emily looked out the window again, watching the clouds roll by. They were so close, she felt like she could reach out and touch them. She wondered what it would be like to walk on a cloud, to feel the misty fog on her skin.

As the sun began to set, Emily's thoughts turned to her destination. She had never been to this part of the world before, and she couldn't wait to explore. She had read all the guidebooks, but nothing could compare to actually being there.

The flight attendant came by with dinner, and Emily gratefully accepted the hot meal. She ate slowly, savoring every bite, but her mind was still elsewhere. She wanted to be out there, seeing the world, not stuck in this metal tube hurtling through the air.

As the night wore on, Emily began to feel more and more tired. She leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes, trying to drift off to sleep. But the noise of the plane and the constant hum of the engines made it difficult to relax.

Just as Emily was about to give up on sleeping, the captain's voice crackled over the intercom. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are beginning our descent into our destination city. Please ensure your seatbelts are fastened and your tray tables are stowed."

Emily opened her eyes and looked out the window. She could see the city lights twinkling below, and she felt a surge of excitement. She had made it, she had arrived at her destination.

The plane landed smoothly, and Emily gathered her belongings, eager to disembark. She stepped out into the airport terminal, the warmth of the tropical air hitting her like a wave. She took a deep breath, the scent of exotic flowers filling her senses.

As she made her way through customs, Emily felt a sense of pride. She had done it, she had traveled halfway around the world on her own. She couldn't wait to see what adventures lay ahead.

The next few days were a blur of new sights, sounds, and experiences. Emily visited ancient temples, hiked through rainforests, and swam in crystal clear waters. She met locals and fellow travelers, and she felt a sense of freedom she had never experienced before.

As her trip came to an end, Emily felt a bittersweet sadness. She didn't want to leave this place, this feeling of adventure and possibility. But she knew that life awaited her back home, and that this trip would always hold a special place in her heart.

As Emily boarded the plane for her journey home, she felt a sense of calm. She knew that this flight would be different than the one before. This time, she knew what to expect, and she was ready for whatever came her way.

As the plane took off, Emily leaned back.
