By Arfan RaihenPublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Before going into the detailed discussion about Facebook usage, let me tell you two incidents. Marina just lost her job. On the other hand, Babu's business was about to end, and it ended.

You must be wondering why the two of them are in this situation?

Marina's daily working hours are 9 hours, out of which she would be busy with a special task for 2/3 hours. Babu would also be busy with a special task for quite some time in between his business. Let me also say that their special task was not necessary for their profession.

On the other hand, a student would also waste his study time doing the same task every day.

Because of that special task, misery had started in the lives of Marina and Babu. Because they would waste their working time. Now, what was that special task?

Bad effects:

Yes, they both spent that time on Facebook. If they had not been addicted to Facebook and had only done that task in their free time, they would not have been in this predicament.

Social Impact of Facebook:
Facebook is an online social networking site that has brought people from all over the world together. And it has helped people from one end of the world to connect with people from the other end of the world very easily. In 2004, Mark Zuckerberg launched it, which spread very quickly in our country as well. Every creation in the world has its good and bad sides. However, it completely depends on the user's perspective. Out of the nearly 500 million Facebook users every month, most of them are students. Therefore, we will discuss the bad effects of Facebook on student life.

Anyway, everyone suffered the consequences of their actions, but what about the student? Yes, the student's exam results came out bad. He also used to sit on Facebook instead of listening to his class or wasting his time studying. Among many other good and bad things, this is the bad effect of Facebook on student life.

Facebook also has some good effects:
It is establishing relationships with classmates, consulting each other about their courses, discussing summaries of Sir's speeches, and various information related to education can be obtained from other students through Facebook. On the other hand, they can get the necessary information, job and internship news and apply from their specific class group. Today, it is not easy to move forward in any way if you do not use Facebook.

Results of research on the impact of Facebook on student life:
Thousands of researches have been done all over the world on the bad impact of Facebook on student life. What we have learned from these researches is very disappointing. Let's take a look at it.

Purpose of using Facebook:
Among the purposes for which students use Facebook, very few are for education.

1. To keep in touch with friends 30%

2. To see photos or videos 11%

3. To play sports 5%

4. To chat 22%

5. To use applications 7%

6. To message 13%

7. To keep in touch with faculty 6%

8. To study in groups 6%

So it is seen that most of the students are using Facebook to chat with friends and play games, communicate with faculty and for academic discussions. Very few students prefer Facebook.
