Over the past 21 years plus i have perfomed all types of contractor work, i have work in every neighborhood in Detroit, Mi. Behind the scenes i have experienced some dynamic situations. Sometimes it may take More than Words To express the emotions, adrenaline of what your eyes and spirit may be experiencing at the time the circumstances are taking place!

TRUE STORY (The Initial Phone Call Lasted About 8 Minutes) Then we proceeded to move forward after!

One particular week back in 2018 in the summertime i received a phone call from a guy name Rick in regards to doing some drywall work. I had been working that day cutting tile, so at the time he had called i actually did not hear the phone. I ended up calling back and long story short we talked for about 8 minutes on the phone in regards to the request he were calling about for property maint.

In the quick phone conversation Rick stated to me that he was in a bind he were trying to hurry up and finish things up in this house he had been working on day & night around the clock. He also said that he would have to move into the home because his lease was going to be over at the apartment where him and his fiance had been living for the past few years! So after he express these things to me i figured this was gonna be an immediate need for service. If nothing else i was aware that this guy was not just calling my phone to kick tires and he actually needed the work done. As we were conversating i was on a current jobsite trying to finish up some tile work that only took me about another 1 hour to finish up.

After holding a brief conversation to get a feel for what the job requirements and request were, including the address and knowing rather or not if the materials were already the jobsite. I proceeded to head over to the property, by the way i was going to hang about 25 sheets of 4x8 drywall 1/2 inch thinck was the request! Half of the drywall was already onsite is what i was told as well drywall compound/ tape/ screws.

DAY 1 ON THE JOBSITE

Day 1 on the jobsite i walked around the areas to confirm everything that was discussed over the phone conversation that we held prior. Before i actually got started on anything we agreed on everything. I then proceeded to my regular work routine as i setup my tools on my makeshift table from scrap wood and drywall that was lying around for the dumpster! There were about 22 to 25 sheets of drywall that needed to be hung, but before i could get a continuous flow of hanging drywall going there were still a lot of nails & screws in the studs that were not removed by the demolition crew. Over the next 2 hours i pulled nails, screws, drywall from the studs before i could actually start hanging drywall. I had about 9 to 11 sheets to start with, rick eneded up going to home depot to grab more drywall. My original plan was to hang atleast 15 to 18 sheets that first day. By time Rick got back from home depot picking up more drywall i had already hung 7 of the 9 to 11 sheets that were already at the house.

Due to the lack of detailed demolition work that was performed by the demolition crew previously before i had actually started, i wasted an extra 2 hours plus+ cleaning up nails, scres, scrap pieces of drywall that was not removed during the demolition taking place. I called this kind of performance unacceptable and real #jackleggish to me!

As Day 1 come to a closing i ended up getting about 13 sheets of drywall up on the walls! Everything went pretty smooth on the 1st Day despite the demolition being half-A** done! But when i got back for Day 2 it was like night & day compared to how things were the 1st day!

STAY TUNED FOR Ep.2
